Default Past Card Values Listed Anywhere?

Posted By: CNYKirk

Hey all.
I'm wondering if there is any place online (or not) that I can view past values of cards, and see value appreciation 'rate'... so to speak. There's someone selling a 1933 Babe Ruth on ebay claiming it increases in value 15%-20% a year..
-Here is the auction.

While I'm not inclined to believe it, and I'm not a 'buy and sell' kind of collector in the least (I don't part with anything!) It does however make the hamster in my head jump on the old wheel and consider using this angle with my wife to justify some more cards...

Though I would guess he miswrote, the seller says 15-20% over the last several years-- not per year-- which I would imagine is an underestimate.

It's no secret that Pre-War baseball cards in general have steadily risen in value over the last many years, and it would be no lie if you claimed that to your wife.

In one sentence he says the card has a crease, then later on he says a dealer claims it does not.

He claims the 'dealer' offered him 2500.00 yet he wanted the auction to run its course.

I think he thought it would go higher.

Also he expects the winner to pay the pay pal fees.

To answer your question you can join VCP and there they have past card values.

You can't charge the buyer the PayPal fees-- against eBay and PayPal rules. In California, and perhaps other places, it's against the law to charge the customer a fee for using a credit card.

I'd rather have the 181 any day. This card does seem very rich in color and nice for the grade, but the scans can lie.

The auction closed @ around $1,860. He still has the same card listed with a BIN for $2800.

Note: Item relisted to a non-payng bidder. Wow, he gave the bidder all of one day to pay.

Though I have not followed too closely, my general observation is that Goudey Ruths and Gerhigs have not significantly increased in value in the last ten years, at least in the higher grades they are found in in the big auctions.

Relisted due to non-paying bidder after one day? Winning bidder ID kept private?

My guess is he was probably shill bidding and ended up with the high bid, and therefore relisted it the very next day.
