I absolutely love the Tinker portrait as well. I once owned an SGC 70, but it had a speckle -- really hard to see -- bit of paint missing from the tip of his nose. I really couldn't get over that and wound up selling it.

Similarly sold my PSA 6 Pink Chase because it had a corner wrinkle and SGC wouldn't cross it over as a result. But I miss that one a bit sometimes...

Don't have the card anymore, not even a scan, but I always like the almost pastel look of the illustration.

"Yeah, I'm a ball player. This is my office. Let's play 9-innings"

Sort of reminds me of the "Baseball vs. Football" by George Carlin.

Miss the card, and Carlin.

John, I don't know why the grade is low on that card. I bought the Bat on , Bat off and the Green from 1 person through SCD in the 1980's. I have the receipt but can't locate it right now. I bought the red background at a Plymouth Michigan show, also in the 1980's. They were all purchased raw.

Joe

Ty Cobb, Spikes flying!

Those fat borders are great, especially that Cobb! Here are a few of my favorites.

Agree with many on this one... The "Bat Off" Cobb is unrivaled in terms of combining beauty and importance. Those colors are just stunning.

A close second for me is Waddell throwing.

I could have gone with anything posted in this thread.
Great looking cards, all. I'll put these up
since the scans are handy.

Just want to say, it's refreshing to see all these
threads with cards in them. Never gets old no matter
how many times I look at them.

Looks like he has some light proof marks on the top and sides. What's the numeric grade, that's a beaut!

I can't believe nobody has brought up my personal favorite in the t206 set (which was also my first pre-war card ever) the mustacheoed John Titus! The guy was certainly a throw-back as the mustache was so out by the time the t206's were being distributed.

PS: Rob, I love that horizontal!
