I respect your opinion Leon i just do not agree with involving the authorities. The world is way to synical and self righteous. I know what he did was wrong and crossed many boundaries so hopefully you and your pals can get together and toast when he probably gets into trouble over his comments.

I haven't read all the threads that this pertains to, nor do I care to. From what I have read the authorities should be involved. Its one thing for two grown men to disagree to the point of challenging each other to a fight, what took place is an entirely different matter. One of the primary responsibilities of a man is to protect his family. The comments/threats as I understand them are so far out of line that the authorities should be involved. Its not being self-righteous, its being civil and responsible.

Its one thing to challenge someone to a fight....and regret it the next day and realize that your acting like a 17 year old and apologize - fine we've all done/said things that in retrospect we wish we'd handled differently. Threatening someone's family and the specific things mentioned can't be explained away as male testosterone. I for one hope that the authorities do follow up on this.

It would be nice if there weren't any more threads about this.

i would like to see an end to all of billy's posting and handles but am not sure the police is the right avenue. this incident may be wasting man power, hours, and money while it plays out. if leon actually felt threatened and worried for his family i support his actions. but i think what was said was offensive more than it was literal or threatening.

I saw the original thread before it was deleted...and I showed it to my girlfriend...and I must say it was disgusting. There are younger folk who post on this board, and no one should have to see such smut. This is the kind of stuff you hear at the playground from pre-teens using words they don't really understand...not from a 25 yo college student. This jerk-off deserves everything he gets...as it is his own doing. It's way too easy to hide behind a computer these days. In my opinion the police should be involved...and in this way he WILL learn his lesson...and will not be likely to act this way again.

Two misspelled words in a row calls for a posting corner-time-out.....What's done is done and Billy needs to answer for his actions. Just like the rest of us when we do something wrong. Plus, here is a kicker. As upset as I have gotten at people it NEVER even comes into my mind to say I am going to do something to someone's pre-teenage daughter. I truly feel we might have the starting of a pedophiliac issue based on what he said, and that should scare any father. Really, how many folks, even when they get as mad as they can think about doing something like he said to a child?

The 2nd thing is....Any married guy knows that in order to stay in a happy marriage you need to keep your spouse happier than you....I don't know why but it's true....and my wife said he needs to learn a lesson....so there you have it. The boss has spoken...Now lets get back to cards....I will give an update when it's done....It could be a while as the wheels of justice aren't too fast....

Just curious, if the posts by Gilliam were so disgusting why did you show them to your girlfriend? Also if you don't think smut is appropriate for the boards why would you use a term like jerk off to refer to Gilliam?

Leon has done what he is comfortable with in terms of the posts made. The posts were way over the line. We all agree, except for MB, Joe (the former attorney) and McCormick. Is it possible the rest of of can do Leon a favor and not post if we don't have card related, even OT, comments to make instead of piling it on and replying to MB's threads or posts as I am doing now?

If the posts were made by Gilliam, I hope it is a long drawn out process for him as he awaits his fate. Nothing like having done something to someone and those sleepless nights which follow. Long before Gilliam posted here I had nothing but trouble with him on ebay under 3 of his ids.

I was on the board the afternoon when Billy posted his disgusting remarks and later in the chatroom when the troll alluded to other perverse sexual acts against Leon and his family. For those of you that are de-emphasizing this turd's actions; put yourself in Leon's or his wife's position...how would you feel if someone spoke of your daughter, sister, or mother in that manner? Greg...my girlfriend is very in tune with my collecting...and my use of this board. I was merely showing her the type of nonsense that occurs from time to time on this board. By no means am I prudish...I like porn, and creative use of the english language. I used to be quite the wise ass when I was younger and got into trouble from time to time. Ultimately I went too far and got into trouble...and I learned my lesson...but without this having happened...who knows how long it would have taken for me to learn better. I am pretty sure that Gilliam not knowing how much trouble he may be in is occupying every minute of his day. That in itself may teach him to play well with others.

As far as the Wagner card is concerned...I am hoping Leon can one day ID the card. It is one of those cards that is so ugly that it becomes beautiful.

I was never defending Billy. My whole thought process was to try and get Leon and his friends to get back to cards. I understand why Leon is reacting to the threat but i just felt the person behind the threat was harmless. It is really none of my business so Leon good luck with taking down this modern day Lenny Bruce. I hear so many lewd and smutty comments every day because times have changed that i just blow them off. I do believe in protecting one's family but i am old school and i would have handled the matter differently. This will be my last post in regards to this situation and i sponsor myself now across the board and depend on no company for financial support. Contact whomever you like because the people that know me understand my talent and what lies ahead. And Leon - now you and Barry have both touched on something I've been struggling with. I don't know a thing about the psychology or habits of pedophiles, but it has absolutely been on my mind that if Billy can find it in himself to write crap like that, is there a chance that he is simply wired that way? I don't know.

But there are a lot of guys in Reno with 12-year old daughters. I bet if you asked them what they thought Leon should do to a guy in their community writing these things, every last one of them would say to pursue it as far as possible.

No, I don't know if writing here means he would do something in real life to a real kid, but I guess that's the point. I don't know. Neither does anyone else.

to be honest i thought billy only said what he said to get under leon's skin, which was absolutely disgusting. but again, with things like that you never really know what's posturing and what's a legitimate threat. i'd be careful labeling him a pedophile though because billy might try to do whatever he can to get some kind of "revenge" out of the whole situation. leon since you said you felt like you were really being threatened i support your decision to involve the police. i hope there is a law that has been broken and maybe this case will open up important debates on what is illegal to do over the internet. i remember just a few months ago when an adult woman manipulated a 13 year old girl and drove her to commit suicide through myspace messages but couldn't be brought in front of a judge because it was not clear a law had been broken. it made me sick.

A couple of points...

1. I have one of Billy's posts, hard copy, where he threatened to come to the National and kick my ass. That is a threat and against the law....I am not positive about the other stuff, whether it's criminal, civil, or just sick. I do know the detective and judicial dept, UNLV-Reno, are very concerned about this....as I just got off of the phone with them. Also, I have NEVER called him a pedophile; on purpose. I always say that "based on what he has said" it seems like he could have those tendancies. I am confident a court of law would see my point with regards to his posts.

Little Billy never thought he would be caught and acted in a malicious way to an extreme. He has been caught and now he gets to learn.....

ah see i didn't get to see his original posts in their original form because by the time i saw they were edited a few times. i've just been gaining a sense of what was said through everyone else's reactions. really all i could put together was he said something sexual about your wife and child, i didn't know he threatened you with a personal confrontation as well. like i said, i hope the issue raises important debates about speech and threats over the internet because as far as i know the internet is a sort of wild west in terms of law enforcement. good for you leon i'm interested to see how this all works out.

and by the way, i wasn't trying to question leon's decisions or defend billy, i was just concerned that in the end nothing would happen but a lot of wasted time and energy because of the past few high profile internet cases i've seen on the news. in each case both parties seemed to lose more than they gained, whether that be legal fees or a crushing realization that nothing can be done. i sincerely hope a law has been broken or a new law enacted.

Please note that in one of Billy's posts he threatened to have sex with my wife, and said he would do so because I couldn't satisfy her. I haven't brought this issue up but it has weighed on my mind a bit. I made light of it at the time but it is likewise a serious statement. However, I will let Leon deal with the accusations against his daughter since she is only 12 years old and a minor. That will get Billy in a lot more trouble than what he said to me.

i must say, this is the first i'm hearing about the Sloate comment...i have seen, first hand, Barry in the clubs, he rolls in with the chains, fadora hat, velour shirts and the irresistable scent of "sexual panther"...Barry is unstoppable, women go nuts for him...i mean i have tons of game and do pretty well with the ladies myself, but the girls walk right past me when Sloate's in the club. i remember this one time he was holding court poolside on the roof of the Gansevoort, we had Wonka there, Lichtman, Leon and maybe about 11 to 15 models all around us, i think Lindsey Lohan or one of those other celebs was there with us too...anyway, Barry was sipping Grand Marnier and doing slight-of-hand magic tricks and telling hysterical jokes...i mean we were slumped over laughing, and everyone was applauding...i think at one point, he was making balloon animals for the models (they like that sort of thing)...so before we knew it, the manager came over and bought us dinner and drinks for the rest of the night. i think by 4am, the manager offered Barry the penthouse suite adjacent to the pool...he retired to said suite with 5 girls on his arms (he left us with a few he didn't fancy)...i've never seen such prowess with the ladies...anyone who questions his manhood, need only buy him a Grand Marnier at the bar to get him started, then sit back and marvel at the legend.

When I spoke with his dad he did seem very concerned. I asked him to call me back but he didn't. I even followed up and left another voice mail but to no avail. ...My guess is that this isn't the first issue with little Billy. Dad is probably fed up. If Billy were my son he would get a good learnin' lesson for this, I don't care what age he is........At this point I just want Billy to have to answer for it...as he should..no more and no less.....and whoever said I shouldn't obsess is correct....I hope to inflict as much grief through the legal processes as I can with as little effort as possible.
