Guys,

Jeff, your a fellow attorney and prewar collector, so I'm happy with you being the most famous person that actively posts. Now I would like to know who's the most famous prewar collector on this board. My only caveat is that people should not nominate themselves.

Peter

But I've heard through a veteran of the board that Keith Olberman and Peter Gammons have both been on here in the past...not sure either is currently. Any of the oldtimers know that for sure?

I always thought that Cmoking was pretty famous being the talented author that he is.

Then there are some of us who, while famous in our own minds, would just prefer to fly beneath the radar.

If I had to guess I would think Keith O probably lurks here from time to time. Just a guess though.

Anybody know for sure what type of vintage stuff he actually collects? I would also think he is well aware of this board. He's a pretty smart guy...wouldn't take much for him to stumble across here. Maybe Bruce (WE) is Keith???

He bought those High end Kalamazoos 2 cards for over 100K and think he also bought the N172 Oakland card for over 100K as well.

I guess its a good thing Dan Patrick doesn't dive into vintage cards with the money he'd have to play with

He's a set collector and he has just about everything. But I don't know anybody, myself included, who has seen his collection. I think he values his privacy.

If I'm the most famous person who actively posts...well...this board is in trouble. Leon -- you are correct -- "infamous" at best.

A year or two back Keith was buying up just about every T209 and T210 that hit ebay. Or at least it seemed that way.

Jeff- you've been on TV and radio, that's famous enough for me. A few weeks ago 104.3 FM played my request on "Breakfast with the Beatles" and said my name and read my email with a story about the time I saw the Beatles, so I was famous for 30 seconds...it's downhill from there.

Barry, you're name is listed in the Sports Collector's Digest Price Guide.

That's famous to me.

As far as guys who are known simply for their 'hobby' contributions, I believe Warren Heitman used to post here if I'm not mistaken. And has Bob Lemke ever been by here?

Not to forget my favorite autograph dealer, the legendary forgery-fighter Mr. Simon!

That is true. And if you happen to be carrying a magnifying glass with you, you can see it anytime.

Come to think of it I'm known by everyone that works up at the local supermarket here...I don't quite get the "Dave" that Norm would get when he walked into the bar on Cheers..but close. IF someone else decides to vote for me, that would be fine...I won't be modest...ha ha

I believe that prior to being banned, Adam J. Moraine was our most famous poster. According to him, he had the best bb card and autograph collection in all of Iowa. I think he even met Bob Feller once.

Bruce Babcock won an Emmy, so that is a good choice...but he is on hiatus and isn't currently posting (the Emmy was for an episode of "Murder She Wrote"- he's a composer).

My wife was also on Mtv with Usher. Got to meet him. He is a really nice guy and not full of himself. In fact when we lived in California, my wife made national television twice and I made it once.

Ken,

Last year my 16 year old daughter in the audience was called up on stage to dance with Usher. Lucky I wasn't there to see it.

His acting in the Mtv show wasn't great either, but he was a nice guy. Also you should have seen all the diamond earrings that his enterage and body guards wore(and I don't think they were CZ s). My wife was trying to get the message out to people not to smoke so we considered it a public service. The show was aired in 2002 was part of a series called "Flipped". She also did talks at high schools to discourage kids from smiking. She has end stage lung disease aused by smoking.

Ken,

I am sad to hear that.Sounds like your wife is quite a lady.

Barry,

Not so fast. I used to like Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five and Curtis Blow back in the 80s but this new generation of rappers--all they rap about is sex(the hos) and guns.

Ken,

I'm impressed that your wife wants to remain active. Do your best to minimize her pain. Good luck to the both of you.
