It’s like the first time you turn on an oldies station and hear a song off an album you bought when it came out.

Also, if you still listen to radio, you’re probably old.

Here are 3 potential definitions of prewar, from most expansive to most restrictive with example cards from each decade:

PreWW2 - represented by cards from 7 different decades: 1941 Play Ball (beats US involvement in WW2), 1933 Goudey, 1921 E121 National Caramel, 1911 D310 Pacific Coast Biscuit, 1903 E107 Breisch-Williams, 1895 N300 Mayo Cut Plug, and 1887 N172 Old Judge.

PreWW1 - just the D310, E107, N300 and Old Judge.

Pre-Spanish American War of 1898 - represented only by the Old Judge card.

Yup. I remember going through the same thing with my cards from the late 60's to early 70's. My nephew asked me if I had cards from my youth, and I said "Yeah", and brought them out. Then he showed me a price guide, and I was shocked.
I distinctly recall thinking at the time "These things can't have a price tag attached. They're not old... everyone must still have theirs."
That was the late 80's, and I got hooked again right away.

This reminded me of the card below, which near as I can tell features 1B "Long George" "High Pockets" Kelly. Not "M". Not Kelley. And not Pitcher. They got his team correct, so one out of four. Decent day at the plate, but not very good fact presentation.

Speaking of not pre-war, what happened to all of the Soccer card content? The forum disappeared and seems to be merged into the testing area with all the posts missing???

The hockey guys wanted their own space so the soccer forum's content is in the hockey section, before the hockey started. And the soccer forum is in with testing forum as it had fewer threads than the other sections. It was just a numbers thing to combine the least used forums to be able to create a dedicated one for hockey....which isn't being used that much. It's hard to please everyone

Ryan and Steven, seeing your fantastic M131s, right after I returned home from getting my 2nd Covid-19 vaccination, has made my day. It has also caused me to regret that I have never managed to acquire one of these for my type collection.

George, here's a few variations to compliment your nice W514 card of Sam Rice:

This thread has delivered with some great cards. I can't compete with the Ruth, Cobb, and Wagner cards. I will put my Weed up against any body else with some, I mean one.

Wouldn't be a pre-war party without a little Weed available for some of the partygoers.

Can't compete with the big boys here but let's see if we can scrabble together some respectable friends to invite.

Can you imagine being a little kid, and the only knowledge you have of what your hero looks like is taken from the Kabuki-like image on your favorite baseball card...

t207johnson 001.jpg

...and then Dad finally takes you to your first baseball game ever, and this is what the guy standing on the mound actually looks like???

Anytime you can bring Johnson & Tunney on the same card you're definitely invited to the party.
