Default Oversized SGC Slabs

Has anyone else noticed SGC’s new slabs for oversized cards (7 1/2” x 10 1/2”) can’t be stacked one on top of another without using rubber bands?

I asked SGC why the oversized slabs weren’t designed the same way as the standard slabs, and they said it seems the oversized slabs weren’t meant to be stacked. They also said they’ve had very few complaints about them and don’t plan to change them.

I’m curious whether collectors of Turkey Reds, 1912 Silks, Kashin Premiums, 1936 R-312s and other oversized cards agree with SGC that this isn’t a problem?

(Note: I’m using the term “problem” loosely).

I'm more concerned with whether they crack open when you breathe on them like the old ones did. The old seemed more fragile than the cards themselves.

I very much dislike them, despite being an SGC fan for regular sized cards. I cracked out [checks notes] 18 T3's from these holders during my T3 set journey, including a few pricey cards such as Walsh and Collins 3.5's and a Lajoie 4. Their large size is really hard to manage vs. the more compact PSA, the stacking issue is also annoying, and, somewhat disturbingly, they crack open with very little effort. They are a bad product, I easily prefer T3's in top loaders to these things.

They don't stack, but it is a minor problem compared to the other issues with their holders for big cards. As others have said, I would avoid using SGC for oversized cards in general. I used to have a lot of M101-6 cards in SGC holders and the cards slip out of the gaskets very easily, the holders feel like they are made of cheap plastic and you can crack them open with your fingernails.

That is a great DiMaggio!

Those have been circulating on ebay…..SGC can keep them. They look terrible and are a storage nightmare. What jackass came up with those?

I'm in agreement. I needed to send 3+ oversized cards to SGC but now I won't. How awful! I thankful you posted this so I didn't waste my money.
