Happy Birthday Bob! To celebrate, here are a couple of great Feller video clips (I think I posted one or both of these some time ago) ...

Classic pitching motion:

Love this ... especially the part where Bob knocks a piece off the original "radar gun":

Hello Bob,

I wish to thankyou for protecting us (and the world) during WW2. Volunteering to serve aboard the Alabama in a combat position, at the peak of your career is remarkable.

You're in a class not many others can hold a candle to. I am deeply grateful for your patriotism, sacrifice and contagious smile.

As far as your MLB career., You're one of the very few icons of the game that I've chosen to collect. Sadly, I was unable to see you throw! But have heard and read about you're smokin' heaters. Luckily, I have your autograph put away for my grandkids and beyond, to marvel at one day.

For me, this commentary below speaks volumes of your character.

_In 2006, when Negro League baseball legend Buck O'Neil failed to get voted into the Hall of Fame, Feller was quoted as saying, “ What the hell do (these committee members) know about baseball? I know more about Aristotelian metaphysics and string theory than they do about baseball."_

Have a terrific Birthday Mr. Feller,

One of my fondest memories is watching you pitch in a game in D.C. in the mid 50's. It was my first baseball game, I was 11 or 12 at the time.

Being from North Carolina and not having a major league team in our area it was quite an experience.

On the same trip to D.C. I also had personal audience with Vice-President Nixon. The ballgame was more memorable.

Happy Birthday, Mr. Feller, and congratulations!

Probably my greatest thrill opening a pack of baseball cards was when I pulled one of your autographed cards out of a pack in 2002. My shout of glee still echoes in our basement to this day.

Here's wishing you many more years of good health and much happiness.

Sincerely,

John Horn

Happy Birthday Mr. Feller
Always enjoyed talking with you during Spring Training at Tucson and at the many card shows that we did where you were signing. You were always very pleasant with the Tucson Fans as well as the show attendees seeking your autograph. One thing I will always remember was when someone asked about your career being interupted by WWII your comment was that you were glad to serve and had no regrets.

Happy Birthday Mr. Feller. My grandmother still talks about seeing you pitch against Joe Dimaggio in Cleveland in the late 40's. She is a lifelong Indians fan. I had the pleasure of meeting you and getting an autograph at a card show in Liberty, Ohio in the early 80's. Thank you for being such a great ambassador for the sport.

Happy and Healthy 90th Birthday, Mr. Feller!! Thank you very much for your service to our country and to baseball. I also have the picture Mr. Klein posted above, which you signed for me. The batter, Joe DiMaggio, had also signed it. It is one of my favorite pieces because when you signed it you told me the story of how you pitched a no-hitter that day (April 30, 1946). It was an honor to meet you and I wish you the best.

Dear Mr. Feller,

I too wish you a happy 90th birthday, sir. I just returned from France where I attended my father-in-law's 90th. Thank you first and foremost for your courageous service to our country - and secondly for the countless memories you provided to generations of baseball fans. Unfortunately for myself, I am just a bit too young (born in '51) to have seen you play. I recently had the honor of meeting you in the DC area where I had the great pleasure of chatting with you and you signed a copy of your Motorola baseball instructional guide that I have had since I was a kid. It hangs in home office.

I wish you many, many more happy birthdays.

Sincerely,

Ken Cohen
