Another T206 Picture ID Mishap (Jack Bliss)?
I don’t know if this has been discussed before, but I believe I have confirmed that Jack Bliss is actually Art Hoelskoetter on his T206 card. Hoelskoetter was also a catcher for the Cards, like Bliss was, but he also was a pitcher — which position he seems to throwing from on his T206 card. The 1908 Cardinals pictures and a comparison of the photos seem to confirm this hypothesis.
At a minimum, I do not believe there is any resemblance between Jack Bliss and his T206 card (check out his M116 in my post below). Anybody agree or disagree?

I start from the premise that these obviously are not the same player. Then I look at the 1908 Cardinals and see if anyone looks like that, and bingo another catcher. Seems obvious to me.

I think I am on board with Eric the Beercan collector Rube Geyer train...it does look like him, and they are both righthanders, and both player's poses (on Bliss and Geyer cards) look like they are following through on a pitch.
Also Geyer's T206 is in the 460 Only print group, and like many other players multiple cards exist. A second (or actually in this case a first) card was possibly planned for Geyer in the 350 Only print group, but was accidently identified as Bliss. Sometimes, ID can be so difficult. These are often rather crude drawings we're dealing with. Some are definitely more true to life than others. If I was a card collector, I'd be all over those M116s over T206 any day of the week.

I think the Geyer & Bliss photo is a credible argument — guy took the pics back with him and when communicating to the T206 gods flipped the names or something. I just think the T206 looks like Hoelskoetter. But, of course, we’re dealing with a drawing. Still, I do not see any resemblance to the actual Bliss guy. Shape of head, and facial structure nowhere close.
