Default Latest Kansas pickups

Posted By: Clint

It's been a while since I posted any pickups and thought I would include them in one post so not to tie up the other one.

When I started my quest into Kansas baseball history it mainly focused on the bigger stars like Walter Johnson, Joe Wood, Carl Mays and other major historical happenings. Now I've changed to any player from Kansas or one who played ball in Kansas, that made it to the show. I've added seven players thanks to ebay, Rhys, and the latest B&L auction. I must also add that I'm looking for strictly black and white or real photos of these players. The newly acquired are: Nick Allen (1919 Reds), Beals Becker, Josh Clarke (Fred's brother), Jerome Downs, John Levi (Thorpe Called him the greatest athlete he ever saw) and Joe Wilhoit (69 game hit streak).

Levi never played in the majors but was signed by the Yankees without them ever seeing him play a game. Pretty impresive when you think what the Yankees had in 1925. He also averaged 55 yards a punt and could throw a football 75 yards in college. Clint
