Default I Don't Know About Ya'll (lower grades)

I don't know about ya'll, but since the extraordinary price increases over the last 3 yrs, I have been more lenient on lower conditioned cards.
Five years ago I wouldn't have acquired this (shown before) but now I don't mind it so much!

The first five words are correct. My yawl is a sailboat.

I would avoid lower conditioned yawls, as you might find yourself at the bottom of the ocean.

I always thought with regional dialect that "yawl" or "y'all" as my family in the eastern south tend to use, it was at least logical.

After meeting my now wife's family from the Pittsburgh area, I quite literally had to quietly pull her aside to ask just what on earth her parents meant every time the word "yinz" popped up. (Which is a lot apparently, lol).

I totally agree with you Leon, and Luke. I went into the T206 set with only a few rules. Purchase extremely low population cards at whatever grade came along. Usually they were 1's and 2's which were fine with me, because most others were waiting for better grades which rarely came along. I tried to stay away from major paper loss and heavy writing, but some cards had exceptions. I loved the days of being able to buy Tolstoi's, Cycles, EPDG's, and American Beauty's at $40 each. When counting all my T206's, rare backs, no prints, multiple Cobbs and a bunch of other HOF'ers, my average paid per card is $83. I'd love to add some low grade off backs that I need, for $83 nowadays, even though I'd feel like I was over paying.

I often wonder if there was something else I could have done to advance my collection, without spending more money than I have spent. If I could go back and change anything, I would have focused strickly on T206's, and left all my other hobbies behind.

I don't mind the lower grade vintage cards at all. They are the ones I can sometimes afford. Besides, in Boston there's no letter R in the alphabet.

Ok, I spelled it wrong. First mistake I have made in the last 10 minutes. I will fix it.

I guess that was when I was 12 (or was I 11?) ... I recall we lived a couple streets apart and we both played at the time, so its pretty clear we did, though not on the same team. If we did, if was just that one season as I was in Florida till then, and I think you said you left the area shortly after that...

I'm a big fan of contracting "you all".

I'm also an accomplished sailboat racer.

My only objection regards spelling.

I guess there are a few that agree with me.

My yawl sits in the water and knows nothing about baseball cards.

I have nothing against the great state of Texas.

We've had this discussion before. Don't y'all remember.

Oh yes back on topic, virtually all of my cards are low grade. It is fine with me. I love them.

Price escalation caused me to lower my standards, grade wise not eye appeal wise. But the continued price escalation has essentially priced me out completely on cards I want to add. I guess that’s why I have turned my attention to other collectibles for the time being.

I've always liked a nice looking lower grade rare card:

Right there with ya, Leon.
I am a small fish, in a big pond; bottom feed by design.
The wife makes my hobby sustain itself ("buys" are funded by "sales").
My collection is driven by cool back story and low POP numbers.
Sure, it's only a, "1" but good luck finding him in E98 with a Blue Background.
I know there are a few out there but after turning my head away originally; I can look at Ol' Chance fondly.

Just got this Mantle PSA "1" to finish out my final season Willie, Mickey, and the Duke trio. It presents well and has excellent centering so I was excited to grab it! My first 1969 Mantle.

Thanks! I really like the 52 Bowman and 69 Topps side by side. They align well.
