I understand your dilemma. It's tough not having someone within a family take possession of it. If you start a GoFundMe page, I'll donate. And I'm sure many here will. Maybe we can get him the $225 and give the medal to the local library or Vet Center in his town for display and keeping.

Default I am the O/P

REALLY APPRECIATE the effort to help resolve this situation
the elderly Gentleman is a bit of Character , he has no recollection of having met his uncle on his mothers side the recipient, and does not have the same last name, the Solider Lived In Niagara Falls NY in the 1930's -40's , and until medal was discovered in a box of old books ready for trash pick up , it may have ended up in a land fill.
He has no emotional attachment to it , he would sell it tomorrow for the $140
I have till Thursday possibly longer
I figured I can get more than $140 and maybe some one on Net 54 has a better avenue where this should end up , If sold here on Net 54 I would prefer to ship it to the person who would go that extra mile to see it finds a permanent home.
as I live in South Florida so no local connection to the recipient
who lived IN NEW YORK where it might be better appreciated
thanks to all

Thanks for the offer , but I was able to get the asking price and Medal be saved.
and considering it was nearly thrown away and what it was almost sold for at the Pawn shop ,
my Neighbor will be more than happy with the final price.
so I would rather not accept any donations on his behalf.

but it is October breast cancer awareness month they are always looking for donations which I feel is money better spent .
thanks again Net 54 Members

The members on this site are terrific. I knew someone would step up with a purchase and get it into the proper hands.
