Default T206 "Back Project"

Posted By: MVSNYC

just thought this would be a cool topic, since it seems like "rare backs" are the talk of the board recently..."on & off" for nearly 15 years now, i have been working on collecting the different brand backs, and slowly have been upgrading them to get the best condition examples i can into my collection, (i also collect high grade T206's, but i seperate the two projects in my mind) along the way selling my downgrades...

does anyone else collect the backs in such a way (best graded example of each brand)? if so, would be fun for others to share their collection here...maybe compare the overall average?

*All PSA Graded:

Drum 4
Uzit 3
Red Hindu 1 (not part of the avg.)
Piedmont 42 3 (not part of the avg.)
Lenox 3
Broad Leaf 350 3
Carolina Brights 3
Brown Hindu 1
Tolstoi 3
EPDG 5
Am. Beauty 4
Cycle 5
Old Mill 5
Sovereign 5
Polar Bear 5
Sweet Caporal 7
Piedmont 8

15 brands (minus cobb) avg: 4.27

just a fun project...and obviously "eye appeal" is very important.

anyone else care to share their back collections?

MS

Since my T206 set is a lower grade effort these are my best:

All PSA Graded:
Piedmont 5
SC 5
Sovereign 4
AB 3
Cycle 3
EPDG 5
Brown Hindu 1
Old Mill 5
PB 4
Tolstoi 3

10 different = 3.8 GPA

Higher than I actually expected.

Interesting topic. I have one of each of the brand backs though not all are graded. I do not have them in front of me, but off hand the graded ones are:

Brand, grade
Drum, 1
Uzit, 3
Hindu, 5.5 (I have several but two HOF are Johnson/port and Bresnahan/port, both in 5.5s)
CB several raw - need to check
Broadleaf, several raw, need to check

Can I chime in-- being a luddite about getting my cards graded, they probably work out like this:

American Beauty 350: White (Buff) ex+
American Beauty 460: Camnitz EX+
Broadleaf 350: Huggins and Mullen EX
Carolina Bright: Unglaub EX
Cycle 350: Maloney EX
Cycle 460: Bell EXMT
Drum: Sweeney VGEX
EPdG: Campbell or Donovan (port) VGEX
Brown Hindu: Doyle (throw) or Lipe VGEX
Lenox: Abbaticchio VGEX
Old Mill: Seitz EX
Tolstoi: Mowrey EX+
Uzit: Steinfeldt Fr-GD

Like Brian, I am putting together a set with as many rare backs as possible. 505 done and only 84 Piedmonts and 85 Sweet Cap's.

Judson

The idea of a backs collection intrigued me and I started looking for them, but the rare one's come up so "rarely" and were so expensive I decided against it - maybe later. I've also bought into the set that is shared by several others - 36 different backs are SGC graded. Only the 4 impossible ones are missing...would like to see one of those come up.
