Default Original or Reprint?

Someone I know has some cards from a spouse's old collection. They are trying to figure out whether they are real or reprint? The key one is obviously the Ruth here. The person also had a lot of other old and new cards, some graded and some not.

What do you old-card experts think?

Jeff

I would need it in hand to be 100%, but I would definitely say the Ruth is suspect immediately. The other two look fine.

I believe they might have multiple bad cards.

That Cobb in the background looks suspect too, can you post front and back on that one?

The 48' Ruth looks artificially aged and a reprint, the E90-1 Ty Cobb below is a very poor fake that has been soaked in a tea bath causing the crackling. Even the Rose signature is questionable.

I would at this point consider anything in that collection of value likely no good and just give it the value of the commons. I think your friend's spouse was the victim of eBay excitement or easily scammed.
