Default Rod Carew - Model 064 bat??

I found this bat up for auction, its a Rod Carew Model 064 California Angels @ 34-1/2 inch bat. According to the shipping records I have seen, Carew apparently never ordered any model 64s. He had ordered Model 66s though. I have also been unable to find any other players with a Model 064.

Anyone have any thoughts on this?

His records show he ordered 34.5" 066- so I would guess its recorded wrong in the records if 064 is clearly legible in the photos of the bat

That was my inital thought too Matt, but after some more research I have been able to find a number of Model 066 Carews in various past auctions.

I'm leaning towards this not being a game used/issued bat, it's clearly a model 064.

I don't think it is possible that it was game used. Those stampings weren't used until 1991.

Ah, yes! I completely missed that detail about the team stamp being present.

Correct! This is undoubtedly Rod Carew's bat from when he was the hitting coach of the California Angels.
