Default Goldin just brokered a T206 Wagner SGC-2 for $7.25Mil

Goldin just brokered a T206 Wagner SGC-2 for $7.25Mil. Congrats!

That Wagner was sold back in 2006 for $300k (if the card didn't change hands afterwards)

Congrats to those collectors who own T206 Wagner!!!

That's wild that they were able to do this in the middle of the craze with the Rosen Mantle. It's too bad the sale will be beaten for the record in a few days because the mantle is on 7.1 million with a ways to go.

As a side note, yet another record breaking card in an SGC holder. Seems to me like the choice if you want a record breaking card sale despite the PSA hype.

Think about it if a 2 sells for over $7 million dollars what would the higher graded ones go for

The Wealth in this Hobby keeps growing and growing. Rare Cards Like this Example or high end Ruth’s, Cobb’s, Mantles, and Mays...aren’t coming back down.

The article states "A 1909-1911 Wagner T-206, considered the rarest baseball card in the world"

Sure its rare. But its obviously nowhere near the rarest. I hope the person that bought it doesn't think it is the rarest.

And the article also said a 1.5 is up for auction this September. So will be interesting to watch the price and dream

With that much money to spend, that emptor should caveat.

Same thing whenever anyone says Joe Jackson's autograph is the rarest. Heck, he's not even the rarest of the eight guys from the team who were banned! Not even the second-rarest on the entire 1919 White Sox! This constantly-regurgitated misinformation is infuriating.

Here's the story on Sports Collectors Daily:

https://www.sportscollectorsdaily.co...2-sold-record/

According to this, the card was Wagner #11 at https://t206resource.com/Wagner-Gallery.html.

It was a PSA 2 when sold in 2006. The buyer then crossed it over to SGC. It looks like it has subsequently been reholdered by SGC into one of their newer slabs.

I hope they don't think that either. Honestly, I think it was just a way to make the article more of a clickbait type of thing, for the non collectors out there.

Ultra rare vintage cards are definitely for SGC but those rare specimens are close to non-existence. Sadly no one would grade their logoman using SGC, those have unlimited supply.

It’s a really nice 2. Better to see in person, but it presents really well in the photos.
