Default T206 Young Portrait Value

This is not for sale or trade.
(Actually, everything I have is available for trade. I just have to want the other card more. And I really like my cards )

What do you think the value would be? It is in a SGC 2.5 newer holder. Just curious. Thanks in advance.

Hi Leon,

I’ve been somewhat unengaged from the hobby for a while. I’m amazed at how much values have seemingly changed. Anyway, the previous poster’s estimate looks about right to me, FWIW.

Attached are from VCP. The first is SGC 2.5 sales, the second is PSA 2 sales, and the last is SGC 2 sales.

Note that last two 2.5 sales are same exact card “sold” in pwcc two months apart. To me, the card you picture looks superior to all the other 2.5s listed here, except the $3,360 comp the closest, and maybe nicer but for a large crease above top that does not affect the image. Based on this info, I would put that Young in SGC 2.5 flip at $3,100 - $3,500.

Man, I cannot believe a Cy Young portrait in a 2.5 sells for that much! $3,000 used to get you that card with a Sov or EPDG back in a 4!!

Leon, sorry, can't help myself...this was $3,100 many years back.

(Still in good hands here!)

The one you posted, I agree with what's been said above, right around $3,000.

There was a nice looking sgc3 w/ a Sovereign back at the recent Burbank card show. The owner was asking $3,700.

That seems like a pretty good deal. I would think a Sov Young portrait PSA/SGC 3 would be north of 4K.

Yeah, it looked like a pretty decent deal to me as well...if the funds were there I definitely would have made a play for it. Here's one that just ended this evening, so an extra 1k for a Sovereign...maybe it's about right?

I think it probably leaves it in the same place....3k ish....but it's not for sale. Every vintage card is unique and I know we all fixate on attributes of cards. Personally, I will pay a bit more, or a lot more, for really big borders. Trimming scandal and all....

and MS, quit doing that to me . I really liked that card in my collection.

I think someone got a good deal on the Probstein SGC 3.

Leon, I love the card, and nice to have the provenance that it does; coming from your collection!

Mike, agree 100 percent. I missed the ending on that sgc 40. 3000-3500 for that one and Leon’s. The green portrait will only go up in value.

Hi Toby, hope you're well, long time, no speak! Let's email.

I think the Young Portrait still has room to grow. It's iconic. He's iconic.

(PS- Probstein ending his auctions around midnight excludes some last minute bidders.)
