Yes it's mine. He had to be alive at the time because I would have either sent you a ton more or put that one in with my expedited orders.

Yup I got lucky buying a huge raw 90's basketball collection a few
years ago. 20,000 rookie/star/insert cards direct from packs to top
loaders...now slowly being shuffled to PSA and Beckett. One of my
better career highlights.

Guess I really never cared too much about the process previously but what are the steps/phases before they are sitting there ready to be returned?

I don't save original packaging...I would have empty boxes stacked up everywhere. All I ask is a handle on the paper work with the cards....a phone number....email.....something.

Appreciate the quick ship Bobby. Everything was received in good order. This 1911 T38 Aviators card is now holding the sole top-pop position.

With regard to the recently slabbed LeBlanc and Clyde Milan cards... I can't recall seeing so much extra air space within the PSA slab.

I am not making a joke about trimming or maraca cards... and know these cards are not trimmed. I'm just wondering if PSA changed something in regard to the interior space within the slab. It used to be a very snug fit, and when it wasn't, they used a "baggie" to hold the card in place. Seems like these newer submissions aren't as well protected, with regard to the potential for moving around in the slab.

Do you TPG pundits think the current backlog has anything to do with a change in PSA's process for slabbing odd-sized cards?

I bet it's less the backlog and more the supply chain issues. How many of each slab do they have on hand at any given time? If it would fit in a Goudey holder instead, they give the Aviator the Goudey holder. It's always been the slabber's discretion as to whether the card gets a baggie or not.

Is it hard to get 10s on cards of that age? This is a vintage forum, so please forgive my ignorance.

Here's an interesting read on the 80s sets and how the author screens cards from cases that he thinks are worthy of PSA 10s. Would have more merit if he sent any of them in during the past three years. Probably will have to spend 2x-3x the fortune for grading fees at whatever point he starts to submit them.
https://forums.collectors.com/discus...ss-psa-10-sets

Even the chrome cards from the 90s would most likely be 8-9s due to centering and surface scratches just from being handled and moved around over 20 years.

Thanks for posting that thread, John. Very interesting, and a fun read. Looks like '87 Donruss in particular make for tough "10s", due to chronic centering issues and those black borders. Appreciate your insight, and have a new appreciation for gem mint grades among common cards.

Bobby...
That 1953 Chalmers-Detroit card is beautiful!

This was one of the Topps that I had on the Net54 Auction thread here that couldn't even garner a $10 opening bid. There were around 8 grays in total. This one just sold on Ebay.
