That is a great way to collect the set and not have to spend $$$$ on signed cards.

I like the new project, how far do you hope to take this, paring T206s with an autograph?

Yeah, pretty cool. If I was interested in autographs, I would collect them Larry's way. Always felt that signed cards were ruined/defaced. Having the card and a separate auto seems way more cool to me. It also leaves one free to sell or dump an auto without dumping your card and vice versa. "Horses for Courses" Dave. ps nice Larry

I don't know Mark, I'm scanning Snodgrass, Marquard, and Livingstone now.
I guess as many as I can get!

Larry,

I have done something similar as I looked for either index cards or cuts since they are usually cheaper and took a T206 with a decent front but that had back damage and just glued it to the index card.

They sell smaller ready made matted frames at many local craft stores that fit the index card size or at least close (usually 4x6). I have a number of those hanging on my walls and it looks great and fairly inexpensive for the more common autos.

Really cool idea. I collect the T206 set, but just recently started to collect some of the autographs and memorabilia (I have 4 game used bats) of the players as well. I was surprised that many of the autographs are readily available and fairly cheap! Cool thread!

I used to think signed cards were "defaced", too. But that changes pretty quickly when you get your hands on a beauty...

But I collect 'em like this, too:

If I had the choice, I'd collect an auto *on* the T206, but the one player I'd want hasn't yet been confirmed. If one does surface I likely won't be the first one to it, and may not even be able to afford it if I am, so I am considering this as a good alternative.

And I like what Dave says -- if it's not on the card, you can pair it with whatever card you want.

Good luck with your quest, Larry.

Regards,

Richard.

I have a lot of index cards due to price and availability, but always found them a little boring. I've been experimenting with using my printer to CAREFULLY fill in the spaces.

Just got these back from PSA. Snodgrass, Latham, Barbeau, D. Jones, White, Moriarty, Hinchman, Blackburne, Leifield, R. Shaw, and McBride.

These are great looking, nice! I have about 80 or so autos from pre-1950 players on index cards and if I could do something like this with them, I definitely would!
