Default $62 Million Dollars per season.

Wow

I saw this article. Anthony Davis signed a 3 year Max extension for $186 million. That is $62 million per year

He is amazing player when healthy.

But he has missed 26 games or more per year the last 3 years.

And the last time he played more than 65 games was in the 2017-18 season.

In his 11 seasons he has only played more than 70 games.

The contracts are getting insane in the NBA and I cannot say they are all deserving them

Don't understand that extension. He still has two years left on his existing contract, and has been breaking down for years already.

Unless they have an opt-out clause (which I doubt), it doesn't make much sense to me. Even with skyrocketing revenue, salary caps, and smaller rosters in the NBA.

The salary cap obviously is very meaningful.

Does anyone know approximately how revenue breaks down between tickets, television, merchandising, and whatever else?

My take is that this is all about keeping LeBron happy so he stays in LA. I agree though that it's a ton of money for a guy who can't stay healthy

With all admiration for LeBron, he is getting to an age where keeping him maybe should not be the highest priority. But yeah, he seems uniquely able to impose his will at every level of an organization.

I agree on both points. I think "GM LeBron" is a real thing, and he doesn't have the greatest track record... the Westbrook experiment comes to mind

GM Lebron seems poor at analytics and great at "Networking with friends".

As I type this, he's probably trying to get Melo and JR Smith signed for next year
