It does seem crazy to me that a PSA 7.5 would sell for less than half of a PSA 8. Small sample sizes, obviously.
Hammer prices for this card are all about the eye appeal though. There are auctions where one copy sells for double another copy in the same grade.

With this particular Mantle, I think there's no way that CSG puts it on the auction block without known buyers already lined up and at least approximately what they plan to bid on it.
