Default End of the SABRCast Podcast

Just listened to today's episode of SABRCast interviewing MLB Historian John Thorn. After the interview Rob Neyer announced that it will be the last episode of the podcast. It's been going for nearly 5 years...250 episodes. He did a good job of getting guests who were interested in 19th century baseball pretty frequently. John talked about the 19th century game today and Craig Brown was on recently to discuss Threads of Our Game. A lot of guests were authors promoting past or upcoming books.
I'm going to miss this podcast. If you have any suggestions for podcasts that cover the 19th century-WW2 baseball history (or baseball cards from the era!) please let me know. Always need something new for when I'm walking the dog.

I never heard of this podcast. But then again, I don't listen to podcasts or subscribe to anything like that. I definitely would have changed that had I known there was a show that covers early baseball.

Is there a repository and associated table of content that covers the different podcast subjects? If possible, I'd like to listen to the casts that included the 19th century topics.

Now I'm going to be googling this topic.

I listen to podcasts through the Apple podcast app on my phone. All 250 episodes of the SABRCast are available to listen/download on that app so you can easily listen to old episodes. The topics/era vary depending on who's being interviewed but it's a lot of authors writing about the history of the game so it's a common subject.
Rounders: A History of Baseball in America is another podcast on the subject.
There are some vintage card podcasts but I've found you tube is usually better for that topic as it's common for hosts to show cards during the discussion. Some you tubers cross publish as a podcast (and vice versa) so I do listen some when walking the dog or driving.
I really enjoy the 1988 Topps podcast. Each episode is a deep dive into one card/player in the set. Would love someone to publish a similar podcast for a famous vintage set like T206, Goudey, etc.

SABR produces a lot of quality hobby content, but they do a rather poor job letting people know they have content to share to the world at large.

Their baseball card blog is awesome and you can lose yourself in it for quite a while if you only visit every few months when you remember it exists.

As with many things about SABR, the show was not really marketed in any way. Not that this was a revenue producing element but they should have done a PBS type of sponsorship to promote a company or two,

SABR should be even bigger than it is but IMHO they need a real marketing effort and this should have been promoted as it was FRESH Content every week which when I went to the web site to go to each week's episode, was not always with a lot of fresh things.

Each week's episode should have been on the front page as NEWS and something new.

Enough of this rant but it's a SABR failure not a Rob Neyer failure. The only thing Rob could have done better was get more guests as even his show fell into the trap of the same old guests, while most of them were good, not enough variety IMHO

I know a lot of folks love podcasts, but they have never been my thing. I have listened to a few and they were good, but I enjoy other things more. If we all liked the same things, life would be boring.

Me and my friend George agree. George, incidentally, has a winsome smile encased by vibrantly red rubberish lips, an irresistibly unique nose, a half human/half turkey neck, and eyebrows that go all the way down to his eyeballs.
