Default 1st MLB start

My buddies kid made his first pitching start for the Oakland A's tonight, kinda neat to see him go from little league to the Big Show.

6/8/22 - A's vs Braves
SP Jared Koenig - 4IP, 5H, 4ER, 2BB, 3K
35th pick in the 2014 draft.

Hey, pretty neat! And not a horrible first start. He got thru the first 3 innings with 0 runs, and had a 2-1 lead after 4, but got pulled in the 5th inning after a walk, double, then triple. 76 pitches.

Congrats to the young man and his dad (your buddy), hope he gets another chance!

Thanks for the kind words. To watch Greg(Dad) sacrifice so much time and resources to help Jared get there was something special. He coached my son and Jareds younger brother when they were coming up, so many late night memories of working on pitching mechanics, good stuff. We took a team of 12 year olds to Cooperstown for a week long tournament and had a blast. I love baseball and the father son connection that comes with it.

I forget what it’s called but I’ve watched nephews at that tournament before of it’s the one just outside of the town. Awesome facilities. Rumor has it Ripken was interested in taking it over.
