Default Show us your cards from famous collections/finds (Lionel Carter,Skydash,Nagy,Etc)

I recently picked up this card with a Skydash Collection label on the flip. This is the first card from a big hobby find or famous collection that I've ever owned and it was really cool reading up on the history of this find, especially since it sounds like it originated from a post here on Net54. I've seen a bunch of different labels on flips from other collections and finds such as the Lionel Carter Collection, Nagy and Black Swamp. So if you've got some, let's see them!

Not a card, but my only famous collection item is a picture of Joe Dimaggio in the the 1939 WS versus Cincinnati. It's from the George Michael (sports broadcaster) collection.

This is from the Lionel Carter Collection. I am tempted to crack it out of the slab because my set is in a binder.

Here are 2 of the 10 Warren cdv’s that formed the display owned by George Wright. The cuts are due to positioning in the display. Wright did collect things including books and photos.
I did not remove them.

Buck Barker made sure his distinctive writing was on the backside of many many cards, and quite often leaving little blank space. Even when there was competing writing...the Mitchell card for example only has 'Oliver', the pencil 'P', and 'Nagy 81' (who and when he got card) in Buck's handwriting.

In the picked up from category, other famous collectors, as seen in the scan, that Buck obtained cards from beside Nagy are Orem, Lipset, Dobbins, Weiss, Heitman and even Net54's Moe.

Would love these cards regardless, but knowing that they were property of Mr. Carter and Mr. Nagy does make it just that little bit more special.

Nice cards everyone. Although I own a few others which originate from private finds, this is the only one in my collection currently which is from a highly publicized find.

Funny how Lionel Carter was such a stickler for near-mint cards and would often refuse off-condition cards for his collection. Yet, he had quite a few beaters. My guess was that those cards came from John D. Wagner or perhaps Buck Barker as fillers? Whatever the case may be, those guys had a vision to create a hobby which has done a lot to bring myself and others great joy.

Default '34 Zeenut

Guys- Great cards. I recently picked up this '34 Zeenut DiMaggio & I'm starting to think that it may have been a Barker card at one time. There was no mention of provenance during the sale. The "SF" looks similar to me. What do you guys think?

Thanks, Brian, I bought it from Lew Lipset on eBay about 15 years ago, so, at least, 2 hobby pioneers owned it. Here's a Carter collection card I picked up tonight. He had a really nice, high-grade collection.

Nice pick up Rob. It's fun to grab little gems like that in a sea of turmoil that is a pwcc auction.

Thanks, Phil, that Nagy card you posted is really neat. Here are 2 more Nagy's that he got from Burdick...

I love that stuff. I'm such a fan of history, those that came before us and the remnants that they left behind. I was in the music business for 25 years (jazz & blues) and loved tracing musical influences from slave hollers to present day. When I did my E98 orphan project I discovered and reunited two cards that were together sometime in the past based on a handwritten "L" at the top of the cards.

They can keep their trimmed gem mint 10's, I'll take deep dirty history any day.

From the Barry Halper Sothebys auction, some unique items. The Matthewson bottle is part of a six bottle NY Giants set. The charms were made by boosters for Fred Clarke following the first world series and for McGraw in 1905. Some of my favorite items in my collection.

Here's a few from the Rothman collection.

For a fee some of the grading companies will pedigree your cards.
A friend (to my surprise) had a couple of the cards in a lot that I sold him pedigreed w/ my name on em.
