Default Single Player Collection: Orlando Cepeda

I have been working on this collection since I met him in 1978. We have been friends since and as a 13 year old, I stayed at his house in Puerto Rico to play in his baseball camp. The collection has blown up to 1000's of items and I have created a movie to show it off. Each item in the collection ( I have added to it by at least 100 pieces) since I made this film is shown as a 3 second image. The film is 1 hour 46 minutes long and has a great Cepeda song reference in the background to start and then is filled with Latin music (His favorite). Here is a link to the page with the movie. I hope you enjoy it, Jeff W

Default Love it!

This is fantastic! What a great player collection! I love how expansive it is, with so many interesting and rare items besides his regular issue cards. I also really like the format, and can see the work and curation that went into this. I really like your multimedia idea, and will see if I can apply it to my own collecting interests. Thanks for sharing!

Great collection! Don't have too much in the way of Orlando myself but I do have one of his father's:

Default Updated film!

Did not like what it looked like. Forgot 3 folders (magazines, baseballs, books). added them and titles to each section. Now over 1:52! Jeff W

I will always root for the Hall to elect Pedro Cepeda. He was a truly great player who basically matched Josh Gibson’s stats every time they played in the same league. Prior to Clemente he was the unarguable greatest player from Puerto Rico (which remember is part of America). It would also Be so cool to see the first father son duo in the Hall

I agree completely. There is no better time than now to elect Pedro Cepeda to the HOF. He flat out refused any participation in the Negro Leagues because he felt so strongly that racial segregation was wrong. A lot of HOF voters like to discount the leagues he did play in, but there is good reason for there not to be Negro League stats for him.

Default Pedro Cepeda in hall

I agree with him being in the HOF. This would be a great thing for Orlando to see while he is still with us. With all of the HOF losses in 2020, Orlando is now the 10th oldest living Hall of Famer. Jeff W

Jeff, thank you so much for posting this. How did you meet Mr Cepeda and how did you continue the friendship? I'm currently teaching virtually (lunch) while overseeing my 6 year old's virtual learning .

Hey Jeff,
Anyway to press the HOF veterans committee to elect Perucho? We could get Bob Kendrick involved and you would have the support of lots of members here. I think it would be a fun social project but you'd have to do a lot of heavy lifting. Count me in if you want to take it on.
