Default E94 Background Color Question

Posted By: barrysloate

I've been cataloguing some E94's and I have a question about the background colors (and I checked the net54 archive, but without any luck):

I have three greens, and one is light green, one dark green, and the other olive. In my description I referred to all of them as olive, but there are clearly three distinct colors.

What's the most accurate way to handle this? Thank you.

Hi Barry,

You should be able to classify the E94s as either Olive or Green. There are two distinct green colors, but not three.
I'd be curious to see the lighter one though.

Rob

Hi Robert- here are the three greens, too large of course. The Magee looks a little gold, but I have a gold one and it is much more yellow. There appears to be gradations of color.

It is accurate, and I have a gold Patsy Dougherty that is distinctly different from the Magee. Are all the experts in agreement that the Magee is gold, as I am editing my auction catalog and want it to be correct?

Hmm, it's definitely a different shade, but I think it was supposed to be gold. I guess it could be the darker green missing a color part, but most likely a darker gold.

Good question though Barry. Nice cards by the way!!

I want my e94s back.

Here is a gold Dougherty and the Magee. The Dougherty clearly has yellow tones, while the Magee is much greener. Again, looking for a consensus of opinion.

And thanks, Robert.

Two for gold...my eyesight isn't the greatest, so this helps. Do the two golds look different to you?

Although my vote is to classify it as a gold variation it does in fact look different
so your eyesight isn't playing tricks on you thats for sure. I have seen other E94's in
holders labeled gold with this same color though.

Magee looks much, much closer to Dougherty than the other two. I say gold.

would it be inappropriate to market the Magee like a fine wine?

"Goldish hue, with oliver undertone....tastes like clean dirt"

Gold -- but I agree that it looks more olive than a 'typical' gold example.

I like that Mark. Well, enough feel it is gold, and while there is a shade of difference I tend to agree. I thank everyone, and will make the appropriate edits. I'll also see if others offer opinions during the day.

Leon- your golds are almost bright yellow; my golds are yellow/green. There clearly are shades.

Hi Brian!
Yes gold.
The colors in the E94 set are gold, olive, green, blue, red, violet and the scarce orange. The Magee is definitely gold.

Default E94 Background Color Question

Posted By: S Gross

I think "we" may have a genetic problem here:

Color Blindness
Overview

Inherited color blindness is most common, affects both eyes, and does not worsen over time. This type is found in about 8% of males and 0.4% of females. These color problems are linked to the X chromosome and are almost always passed from a mother to her son.

The symptoms of color blindness are dependent on several factors, such as whether the problem is congenital, acquired, partial, or complete.

Difficulty distinguishing reds and greens (most common)

Difficulty distinguishing blues and greens (less common)

maybe at the next get together instead of playing "duck, duck, goose" a fun game of "green, green, olive" would be more appropriate .........
