Default SCP Auctions

I just received my scp catalog and was very surprised how many lots were completely or partially missing information and proper descriptions. Seems like whoever wrote the copy for many of the items had never did a high-end sports auction catalog before.

Anyone else notice this?

I am a "ring guy" and not one of the three rings mentioned gold content (i.e. 10K or 14K), if the diamond was real or a cz fake, if the ring had any writing inside to indentify the manufacturer, the ring size and if the ring was a real ring, a salesman sample or replica.

Many of the other lots lacked important information too.

I believe that SPC auction catalogs only show the lot with just minor information. I think most of the detailed information can be found on their auction website.

you are correct, i went to the web site and there are additional pictures and information at the web site. seems kind of strange to me to come up with an auction catalog and not have the information inside of it.

thanks,

Mike

Not really unusual at all. Mastro/Legendary have been doing it with their "Collectors" auctions for a few years. Plus when printing costs rose and the Internet became more mainstream, other auction companies went this route, too.

Most auction house catalogs have the full descriptions, some have abridged. Some descriptions are changed and/or corrected online, though usually that the description has been changed usually is clearly noted in red letters. Sometimes the correction is for the better, such as there are more items in the lot than originally described or they forgot an important historical detail that adds to the value.
