That was me...I am not sure what I am going to do with it.. I need the panel to complete a 68 bazooka panel set. I may cut it up and grade the Rose. I am so against cutting it up but I need a Brock panel.

Here are a few more pickups over the last 3-4 months.

The Corn Flake box is pretty tough, I have a panel cut off the box, but not the whole box.

This is a second Dynamite magazine, but the price was right.

I got the above from CardinalCollector (Randy). His collection liquidation is my gain.

The mini base is a promo of some sort, I'm not sure on the date or how they were give out.

1977 Marbleous Plaque and ad. This plaque is hard to find, I've seen the ad for years, never found a plaque until a month or so ago. It's made of a hard substance of some sort.

I doubt very much that 5000 were made. I was beginning to wonder if they even made any.

I think someone, somewhere started a listing of all the Carousel stores. Would be really cool to know all of the possible stamps. I know I have a hard copy, likely misplaced, if a listing I started when I first started collecting, it I’m sure it was far from complete.

Do you try to pick up all the Brock Carousel discs w/the stamp?

Posts 264 and 289, especially 289 have a listing of known Carousel backs.

I'm always looking for more Carousel backs, some are very prolific, some not so much.

Me being a Cardinals fan I cannot believe that I have not looked at this thread before now. You have an unbelievable Lou Brock collection. I love the variety and the passion you show.

However I do need to make a slight correction. The 1973 Topps candy lid proof you posted is not 1973. It is 1972. The 1973 proof will have yellow surrounding it. The 1972 candy lids are very very tough to find. I know because I looked for a long time and finally got one for my Cardinals collection.

I saw Lou at the Cardinals home opener today along with all the other living HOFers. Lou lost one of his his lower legs to diabetes a couple years ago but has handled it with nothing but class. He got a huge ovation and some loud “Louuuus” from the crowd.

Here are a few recent pickups. Miscuts and a certificate given out if you were at the 3000 hit game (I was not).

The Carew All Star shows Lou batting in the background, using the same photo as the 69 WS card 165. Thanks to the Net54 board for pointing that out.

I've been following the Brooks Robinson thread, keep it up, lots of great stuff there.

David,

Appreciate you following along the Brooks and Orioles thread. Thanks for the inspiration to do it... I know I enjoyed viewing your thread ever day of the year and now like the updates as well.

Really like the blank backs and miscuts. Some favorites that I like to collect as well (when I can find them).

Default Lou Brock

6 1/2 years late to the party...this was a fun read scrolling through all the posts. It brought back some fun memories.

I had forgotten about the RC Cola's and the wiffle ball boxes, and the 7-11 cups. I still have multiple copies from packs of the 1978 "77 Record Breaker" cards. "AMC Pacer, Official Car of the Phillies" and "Dodge Material" ads are hilarious. Here's a run of the mill 65 that I picked up last year...

After Mr Brock passed away the other day, I actually thought of this thread. From all indications, he was a better man than he was a baseball player.... And that's saying something!

I was saddened to hear of Mr. Brock's passing as well.

When I was a teenager, my first job was as a caddy at a local country club. In the caddy shack area (where you wait to be assigned) they had a RC Cola machine and at the end of most days, I would take home the empty cans that were left behind.

For years, I just had these cans in a box and at one point 20 plus years ago, I decided to get them signed if I knew I'd be meeting a player (banquet, etc.).

Fortunately Mr. Brock made an appearance at a local hospital 7-8 years ago (as a speaker) & I was fortunate to secure his signature on my RC Cola can:

RIP Lou
