Default If you could buy any 2 cards what would they be?

Posted By: Patrick McMenemy

If I could add any 2 cards to my collection, it would be these 2 Old Mill Cabinets that appeared in a couple of auction house auctions over the last few years. I had always wondered if any catcher pose cards existed for the Old Mill Cabinets, and these appeared a few months apart. They are still the only catcher pose Old Mill Cabinets that I have ever seen.

It's going to be a while before it happens. But I'd like to get Babe Ruth in a pitching pose and Ruth in a Red Sox uniform. For the next 5 years it's going to be like fat chance.

Old Judge Cap Anson in uniform
Any Old Judge California League card

In the "maybe someday" category:

Old Judge Radbourn "flipping the bird" pose

Otherwise:

1980 Topps Thurman Munson

1974 Topps Willie Mays -- I know there is an WS Highlight card with Mays, but I'd want a real card.

1964 Topps Stan Musial (1952-57 Topps as well)

1982 Topps Traded Ryne Sandberg

There are some others like this; but these are some examples of cards I'd have loved to owned/sold in my collecting/dealing days.

Since I collect a little of both, I will give you two for baseball and two for golf...

Baseball:
1) T206 wagner
2) e107 wagner

I guess I am becoming a Wagner portrait collector

Golf:
1) 1900 Copes Old Tom Morris
2) 1932 US Caramel Bobby Jones

1) Pipedream: any E222 with any back. I'd love to have one of these super-rare cards of Southern Leaguers.
2) A really nice n162 Glasscock. I think this is the nicest looking card of the 19th century.

Jerry,
Yes I am fortunate enough to own both; your post gave me the opportunity to share with the board.
As for me it would be tough to narrow my list down to two but i don't think I could wrong with a w600 Cobb and the Just So Cy Young. I'd also be happy with a a crack at two from Leon's collection or Pat Preece's!

If I could afford to buy the 2 cards, then it's likely that I would have enough money to buy any and all of my wantlist, real or imaginary, and then the fun goes out of it.

It's more fun to be poor
...at least, that's what I will keep telling myself.

But for the sake of playing along:
1) Impossible: T200 Cleveland Americans in SGC 96 (can you imagine what that must LOOK like?!)
2) Possible, but HIGHLY improbable: 49 Leaf Musial in PSA 8

I am with several others that one of my top two is the T210 Jackson. My #1 is an E107 Delehanty, one of the only cards to depict him with Washington.

sale estimates on an e107 Delehanty?

I would probably take an e107 Matty and Wagner.

(although both a red and blue Balt. News Ruth would be quite cool)

but what is a Horner Cabinet? All I know is it is beautiful piece of photography, done when photographers where craftsmen at lighting a subject, instead of relying on photoshop to cover their sorry lack of skill. That Speaker is more a work of art than card. What are they?
