Default Great pile of T206 cards! What a deal!!

Posted By: Frank Wakefield

He guys, when I first saw this, I thought I don't want it. Now I'm thinking I should put a bid in, just so some knucklehead doesn't buy it and slowly scam them to the unsuspecting on eBay.

What do you think?

Frank.

You could probably get at least $20-25 for a complete reprint set and there are probably dozens of sets there. Someone could actually make some honest money with this.

And I don't think this falls under the category of outting an auction.

Not real sure there are any "sets" in there. The stacks seem to indicate multiple cards of only a portion of the set. Not real sure what I could do with 500 each of only 60 different cards. Might be worth a contact with the seller.

Yes, you would want to make sure there were numerous complete sets. I don't think singles have any value, but sets would be a popular item.

I think we (The Board) should buy these up, distribute them to all the board members ( who want to participate )and have a contest to see who can make the most authentic looking reprint. $5.00 fee to enter( should cover the cost of the reprints in the auction and cover the cost of a few real prizes to be awarded to the best looking reprint).

I put in a bookmark bid just to see what happens. I like the idea of someone here getting them so we don't see the flood on ebay. I also like the contest idea too - can you imagine how educational it would be to this forum to see how well known reprints can be made to look original? It'd probably end up scaring the bejesus out of some of us!

It's hard for me to imagine what legitimate purpose someone could have for buying this many of them. I suppose some of the known reprint sellers on ebay (that clearly identify their cards as reprints) could make decent use of them.

Chris:

I'm in. I see Joann has her bid in. I would be happy to win and distribute. I live 25 miles from Naperville so it would be easy for me to pick it up.

I emailed the seller regarding the mix. Are all cards of the set represented? Can I pick it up. I'll keep you posted.

Steve

If they sell cheap enough we should get a bunch of people to to put in on it,have Steve pick them up since he offered and then just burn them to get them off the market completely. Except the Taylor cards of course, let those get given away

Don't burn them, shred them and then recycle. That way, they can be made into more reprints later.

I agree....

One of us needs to win this, if only to keep some scammer from soaking them in tea and relisting them one at a time.

I'd like to see a picture of all of them spread out, a massive pile of T206s. A fellow could lay on them.

I'll kick in toward the purchase. If we get a dozen folks committing to up to $10 each, the winner could get the money via Paypal from us, pay for them, and eventually mail out our shares via media mail, they are printed matter.

If Steve M lives near there, let's let him win it... I'll Paypal my share to you, up to $10, plus your mailing costs to distribute.

Noooooo. I need this lot to help finish my set.

LOL just kidding, I like the idea of someone winning them so we don't have to sort through loads of reprints on ebay in the coming weeks.

Steve

I'll take a swack of them and throw in payment for a share. The "art" in baseballart will make a good use of them in a collage or mixed media work.

Thanks,

Max

I'll thrown in some $$$ also if that's what the general consensus is. I wouldn't mind one of each Cincinnati and Pittsburgh player though.

There are at least 60 different cards, but nothing close to enough to make any sets. Pickup is available!
Thanks,

I still think WE need to win this, and either divide it up or burn it, just to keep it off of eBay later on.

I'm for Steve winning it, he can pick it up.
I'll send him money for a share.

Does that suit you, Steve?

How many folks are in for this?

Frank:

I'm going to take a pass on this one. I was hoping, as were others, that there was more representation of the set in the lot. With only 60 different and apparently no stars it doesn't interest me.

Steve
