Default Anyone with experience involving CHARGEBACKS/Ebay Seller Protection? surfe-3 scammer

Hey all. I recently sold off my 1933 Sport Kings set that I had accumalated over the past 10 years. I put them on EBay via .99 cent auctions. Some of the cards went super cheap. To add insult to injury, one of the buyers claim that he didn't receive the cards, even though I shipped them to the PO Box I was supplied with. Ebay says I am protected via the seller protection policy, but I guess what I am asking is AM I REALLY PROTECTED??? Is this something I need to worry about? The bidder is surfe-3 if anyone thinks foul play is going on and wants to block.

I’m actually going through something kinda similar. An item sold and was paid for. I shipped it. Then the buyer freaked out and claimed that their account was hacked, and they didn’t actually buy the item. Ebay sent my payout, but then later claimed they were putting a hold on it, which made no sense since it was already paid to my account.

The buyer submitted a claim through eBay, and I responded with the tracking, which showed that it was delivered, also to a PO Box.

eBay is still investigating, so not sure how this will shake out. But I better either get to keep the cash or get my item back.

In my past experiences, it is really case by case basically. It depends on the mood of that eBay CS who look into your case at that particular time. I won fights before and also loss fights in some non-sense as well, that's why I stop selling on eBay.

I don't know if this is what happened but it could have been put in the wrong PO box and the person that got it kept it instead of turning it in.

Fortunately most of the people at our post office are really good but a couple of years ago I had a card that showed it was delivered to our PO box but it wasn't there so I went in and told them I was supposed to have a package and when they checked it had been put in the box below ours by a substitute worker.

I also noticed lately that some tracking says that it was picked up as soon as it's put in the box.

Here's an example of that on a recent card I purchased I didn't pick it up until the afternoon but the tracking says "individual picked up at PO" at 9:02am but that's when they scanned it and put it in the PO box.

usually on ebay if it shows delivered seller wins

if buyer whines to ebay, and ebay thinks they are a good buyer, they refund from ebay, not the seller

if the buyer files a chargeback, make sure you answer it and supply the tracking number even though ebay already has it.

went to block, already on my bbl.

I went and looked at his feedback. This isn't the first time that the PO has 'misplaced' his package. Either he is extremely unlucky, or this is a scam that has been successful for him so much that he continues to use it.

It got delivered to PO Box on a Saturday so it's possible a sub clerk put it in the wrong box (really easy to do) and he really didn't get it but you did your part and it shows delivered so you should be ok. But it's ebay so good luck, stress the "delivered" part.

Jim....he claimed it was to a different Post Office but in the same city. Doesn't the zip code kinda negate that?? You aren't gonna have two post office's sharing the exact same zip code right?

I haven't sold anything on ebay in about ten years. I was planning to list an item in the 5k-7k range, but am very paranoid about a situation like this happening. I really don't want to lose the auction money + the investment I already have into the item.

The item won't be able to go to the ebay authentication services. So, just straight to the buyer.

How do you all ship your high value items?

What should I do to make sure I'm protected from scammy buyers in the current ebay landscape?

I've been told by a few people to do registered mail at USPS.

With a card worth that much, it will HAVE to go to Ebay authentication service. There are no if's, and's or but's about it.

It's a set in glued into an album, not a single. As far as I know, they won't authenticate that.

If it’s below signature requirements and was delivered to his confirmed address you are good. that’s all you can do. His beef is with the post office.

edit: not sure why AG is not applied to P.O. Boxes. you have to register your name with the box.

Yeah that sucks, big reasons why they have AG now. If you call and talk to a high value claim rep I’m sure they will help you out. Good luck!

The bubble mailer the seller was opening in the video appeared to have been taped on one edge that had clearly been opened. Maybe the buyer reused a mailer? Anyway, as to your question, as long as you printed the label on eBay, sent it to the address that was on that label and it was delivered, you will be in the clear for a chargeback. Your funds will be held until eBay verifies that and then released.

The weight was a dead giveaway. The seller shipped out a 5 ounce package and got back a 1 ounce package. That guy is a scam artist. He has been blocked.

Default Insured + signature required

Depending on the sale price any sale over 600/insured a signature is required-I send registered for peace of mind depending on the value. In your case the item was delivered, so have them file the insurance claim if applicable--I have only had to use my private insurance carrier one time so far because the Postal Insurance wouldn't pay my claim--

Follow up to this scammer. I tried to warn others about this guy by following up on the feedback I left for him. Ebay deleted it. Why would they do that?

Sure makes you wonder what kind of an operation they’re running over there.

I wonder if the other user disputed it, so they took a preliminary measure to delete it while they “investigate”?

Not allowed to leave negative feedback for buyers.....or negative "positive" feedback either. Even if they are a scammer. Gives people the idea Ebay may not be a completely safe platform to transact business on.

What is there to investigate?? He has a history of scamming sellers out of their cards and getting his money back.

If you leave a false positive, EBay will remove it and can suspend your account for misuse of feedback. Be careful. It doesn't seem right in some circumstances but it is what it is.

It wasn't really a false positive though. It was a little known and seldom used provision called "reply to feedback received". It is perfect for situations such as this.

Bobby the clerk who put it in the po box or delivered it to him in person had to scan it. The scanners are "signed in" to that zip code. To correct the zip code you have to log out, change it, verify the correct code, I did it once in 20+ years. So for that to happen, the plant had to misroute it, then the clerk didn't notice the name was wrong, then if somebody came to pick it up they usually sort them by name so they would have had to give the right name. Not likely!

I can't remember if it's okay to post links to another forum, so I won't, but the BO forum has another thread about this guy.
