Default 1914 Cracker Jack Joe Jackson auction in SCP

This will be an interesting auction to see the final sales price. It seems the interest in this card has grown and understandably so. But so few sold since the recent “boom” in cards it’s hard to know where this will land. What do you think?

Wow, almost $70k now for a 1.5.

Surprised at the lack of description of the condition of the card in the auction. Just a picture and a grade. I always find the description helpful, even with good pictures its hard to see the cards.

Yes. I saw that and the price does not surprise me but I will be interested to see where it ends up.
It actually has some nice eye appeal to it and with the 1915 version really spiking in price and the 1914 more rare it was to be expected.
Do we think it will go over $100k to $110k? It is already a little over $73k with buyers premium

with the way prices have been going and a 2 selling for $60k in 2019. I would be surprised if this doesn't close above $125k.

A 2 sold for 6k in 2010, this is such a limited issue that rarely comes up. Pretty cool that its "new" to the hobby? I was hoping to have them tell me the story of where it came from.....

Yeah, I think it'll go over $100-110k. Some of the 1915 are going for big money recently (even lower grades)...a 1914 will bring out all the monies.

Will be fun to watch, for sure...

Crazy to me that this could be a 100k plus card. I bought one here a while back that I thought I may upgrade some day. But probably not at these prices.

Good luck to anyone bidding! (The SCP card is not mine).

Way to out a card I been building a warchest for since they posted about it on instagram months ago! Just kidding about outing it, the way these things are marketed now nothing flies under the radar. I can say if I lose it I'm gonna at least draw blood!

Best of luck also but usually when the bidding is in extended time the special cards tend to have prices that pop

Down to the last couple hours with it still at ~$80k with BP.
Excited to see where this one lands. I'd love to get a '14, but even the 1.5 are out of my price range, so I guess my '15 will have to suffice.

Not sure if this was directed to my comment but I'll clarify my point, I'm in real estate in a HCOL area and it's been FOMO for the last two years, no more. With the fed interest rate rise to battle inflation the days of $150,000 over ask are gone, I see the same parallels in the card market, FOMO would have put JoJax at $125k. The Fed will have to raise rates to the point of putting the economy into a recession which will last the next 24 months IMO, I could be completely wrong but that's my take. If the same 1.5 JoJax comes up for sale in the next 18 months it'll go for 75-80K, if I'm wrong refer to this post and I'll send you a bottle of fine Whiskey.

agreed either because the right cards go for the right prices or as many say you only need 2 people addicted to the bid to drive the price up at an auction

Don't know if anyone will remember this, but like 4 years ago Jeff Lichtman offered a PSA 7 I'm pretty sure in BST for $75,000.

Technically, assuming the winner paid sales tax, the all-in price is over 100K, which at that price level, would almost certainly be figured into ones bidding.

I was the winner of the joe jax. If you have seen any BST posts in the candy section you might have known I was looking. With this card I have now completed my 1914 CJ set. Happy to get the card and was fine with the price. Rarely do these cards drop in value. My bet is this sale will be used by others as the new standard for this cards numerically graded entry point. It’s just a matter of time before a graded 1 is a $100k card.

Regardless of price, my 14CJ set complete! Journey for me started in October 2021. Some of the cards are very tough to find. From educating me on the set, to helping me find some cards I needed, I appreciate all the net54 members who assisted me along the way. I have really enjoyed collecting this 14CJ set.

Congrats Jamie. Not all 1.5s are the same, as we well know, and that card presents several levels higher. I am not sure an avg 1.5 card gets that price. Love that card!

October 2021, that's really fast. Congratulations. What a cool set to complete. I still haven't finished my 1959 Topps set that I started in 1979. The journey continues.

Congrats Jamie! That's one hell of an accomplishment and in a very quick time frame. There are over 30+ cards in that set with microscopic pops. Would love to know if you plan to display your set. I had mine on the wall in cases. All the red looked really good against the cherry wood grain.

Congratulations Jamie, great follow up to your Cobb back run, 14 CJ's are quite a challenge. And you knocked the set out in record time, quite an accomplishment.

Less than a year to complete the 14 CJ set is very impressive, congratulations!

Thanks guys. Was a nice expansion for me outside the T206 set. I bought my first couple 14CJs early October and thought they looked awesome in hand. Was addicted from first sight.

I’ll create a digital album for those who want to see it.

Now turning back to T206 rare backs….. hope to see you guys at the Net54 dinner at the national.

Well done. Curious if you pieced the set together or if a bulk of it was purchased as a partial set.

Best comment in a while. And something I can relate to.

Thanks for the chuckle...
