That seems like a strange way for them to do things, but that statement is true for a lot of what PSA does I guess. Also, interesting that all 3 of those got the same grade of 4 when there appear to be some significant differences in the condition of each card, especially the last one you posted.

Glad they corrected it.
Haven't had a T3 come back from PSA in awhile, not sure if they even grade them now w/ their overload lately.
& when they come back to grading them, I'm sure the price will be steep.
SGC currently charges $100 to grade cabinet size cards & when PSA is ready it will probably be for more.

Thanks Jay (t206kid)! Note: the colors appear shifted a little to blue in this scan. This is a result of scanning a slabbed card. Ungraded cards scan beautifully with true colors, but I still can't figure out how to accurately represent a slabbed card in my scans. PVC 6"x9" top loaders are even more bluish, the cards look just plain bad in them. Part of cracking out my T3's is so that I can see what their true colors actually look like. I need acrylic top loaders!!

Update: after I posted this, I did a little research into absorption spectra of PVC. Lower frequency light (red end of visible spectrum) is more readily absorbed than higher frequency. So I increased red in the color balance, and the card actually looks a lot more true to life now. Here is the result. Sorry for the double post, but I thought this might help someone now or in the future. FYI, acrylic has wonderfully flat and low absorption across visible wavelengths, which is why it's so popular. Polycarbonate is another good choice, a lot tougher than acrylic though not quite as optically clear. Does anyone know what polymer is used by PSA for their holders? Whatever it is, it needs to be tough enough to the survive the ultrasonic welding process.

Yep, I already saw them. Though it's tough to keep focus browsing through everything in that auction! Did you see the Boston Store Jackson?

Looks like the almost complete T3 set on Collect Auctions sold for a little over $25K with the b.p. so I lost my bet on under $20K.

I think it should have went for more, alot more. Collect didn't do it justice, they needed a bunch more scans & a better write-up.

I thought I was gonna win the Turkey Red T9 boxing set, there's 26 in the set & they had scans of just 8.
Was the underbidder & w/ juice went for $5472.00, the next bid would have topped $6K & I couldn't pull the trigger

I think that the T3's show better out of the slabs.
while other cards it makes no difference
But perhaps because of the size I like these better Raw

I agree. They're also a lot easier to store raw. About 40 of the T3s in my set were graded when I bought them, but all have been cracked out.

I think that they look good in PSA slabs, but I tend to agree with you that they look better ungraded. I've cracked out 19 T3's myself, most from SGC holders (they are just too cumbersome). You can see that all of my scans are of the card only, and I've cropped the holder when graded. Somewhere around 10 of my 33 posted T3 images so far are in PSA slabs. As I said above in the Amby post, the colors scan much truer for me when ungraded.

Nap Rucker was a really good pitcher who played on some really bad teams. Despite a 132-132 lifetime record for a Brooklyn team that only finished over .500 his last two seasons (when he was no longer a full-time starter), he received Hall of Fame votes in seven elections. He peaked at 6.4% in 1942 when he finished 31st, which doesn't sound that impressive, except when you consider all 30 players who finished above him are now in the Hall (as well as 15 players who got fewer votes, including pitchers Kid Nichols, Amos Rusie, Red Faber, and Waite Hoyt). Not to say that he was a Hall of Fame player, just that he was still remembered 25 or so years after he retired as being a better player than his record would indicate.

This card falls in the category of "have one, but looking for an upgrade". Same with my Mathewson, Lord, & Moran. They all came in lots that I purchased, so I have them but will sell if and when I find cards that are a better fit with the rest of my set.

I'm a bit late to this thread. I don't have many T3's but I'm trying to add more. IMO, each one is like a piece of art.

Gary, I agree this is a beautiful set which is why I started the thread. We're trying to post a card each day in their order in the set so yours are both a little early as we are up to Joe Tinker for today. Please contribute any others that you may have on the day they come up.

Not too many Speakers yesterday. Hopefully there will be more Slim Sallees today.
