Default Why hasn’t this been pulled yet? Or will it?

Days before Heritages auction launched with the 14 CJ set, I noticed lot #50018 (Bresnahan No #) actually had remnants of the number 17 still vaguely visible yet PSA still graded it a No # variation. After posting this elsewhere, a PSA rep reached out, confirmed that they had reached out to Heritage about this issue and stated that the Cert # has been deactivated which it has been I can confirm. Almost a week later and the card is still active in their auction….

Very good catch on your part. Have you notified Heritage directly?

Thanks for posting this. it looks obvious the card was altered and someone attempted to erase the number from the card... are there any other cracker jacks in the auction which you feel might be altered? this has me concerned when bidding on other cracker jacks listed in the auction.

At least they're consistent with the lack of response.

Here's another. Clearly a different photo than was used for Wine's 1966 Topps card....

https://sports.ha.com/itm/baseball/1...ription-071515

Same photo shoot? Perhaps
Same exact photo? No way

They couldn't have looked up the card and seen it was a different photo?

Well on looking again maybe it's close enough you can forgive the mistake.

Good catch CrackaJackKid I missed that one. Bid is north of $1500 with BP too.

Double check me on this but I have in my notes that #11 Stovall #27898978 6.5 is possibly altered

Brady is finally selling his amazing set...I did notice that #46 Groom however is not being auctioned with rest

Only a few complete graded 14 CJ sets out there now Greg broke his set up last year

Not 100% sure on Stovall but the overall appearance on the top border doesn’t look good.

Wow, I hadn’t seen that. It’s pretty damming evidence. I would steer clear.

This is the image used for multiple Bobby Wine cards in 2009 Topps Heritage. So that's what the buyer really got.

This card is from Brady Hill's 1914 Cracker Jack Collection that he is selling off.

This what Heritage emailed me today re: the No Number Bresnahan

"Thank you for your inquiry. This card is currently at PSA for a review and will be removed if they confirm there is a problem."

I would hate to think I had a great looking PSA 4 No Number Bresnahan only for PSA to now come back and tell me it is a #17 Bresnahan that has been altered...that seems like a major price difference PSA may be on the hook for under any guarantee

I hope PSA gets the card grade correct if it is altered which to me it seems to be

That NM-MT 8 Cobb is a monster, already at $250,000, my guess is it goes north of $400,000.

+1
Agreed Phil
The Matty and Joe Jax are top notch too
All three cards together should clear $750K easily and will probably approach (if not pass) $1M

It seems odd to me that Heritage would be waiting for PSA to confirm there is a problem with the card when PSA has already deactivated the cert number. That seems like a pretty strong act of confirmation that there is in fact a problem. In any event, I would think the deactivation of the cert number alone would warrant a prominent notification in the Heritage card description. Seems like a material fact.

As an aside, PSA does not take chances that you will miss it when they deactivate a certification number. Looks like a red alert on the Enterprise.

I'm guessing that it will pass $1,000,000.

Greetings from Heritage Auctions.

A lot you have been tracking, lot # 50018, previously described as: "1914 Cracker Jack Roger Bresnahan (No Number) #17 PSA VG-EX 4. If collecting this series wasn't enough of a challenge, collectors have a printing error to pursue with legitimate examples found few and far between. Early on, card #17 that features HoFer Roger Bresnahan lacked the number "17" on the back of the card. This mistake must have been caught quickly as this card is on the want list of many collectors. Our offered card is a very attractive example with no note worthy flaws. Graded PSA VG-EX 4. The total graded by PSA stands at eighteen. This is one of four graded VG-EX with two graded higher. " in the 2022 January 27 - 28 Winter Sports Card Catalog Auction , #50051 has been withdrawn from the auction and is no longer available for tracking.

Thanks for your understanding.

Oddly, the card is still pictured and the lot is showing a current bid of 1000. It does say the lot has been withdrawn. It's like Satan's altered card keeps putting itself back in the auction.
