I believe I have seen the last small group of inherited cards from the gentleman in Northern California. It was a very informative situation
in that I got to see a nice PCL collection untainted by modern collectors/dealers. It looks like almost all of the cards have been put into a scrapbook at one time as a majority exhibit strong corners and
back damage, though many backs were spared too....... It was neat to see how they were really collected and in what type of numbers, relative to each other. I believe the only cards I missed out on were all 159 of the Colgans, Red Borders, and Tin Tops (if any), and about 5-7 M101-1/2's....Nothing I could do...they just got sold.......The total for all of the cards I got was about 732'ish. I will probably only sell these through ebay or to a large auction house. I am keeping everything I have an interest in, as utmost and foremost, I am still a collector. Including what I had posted before the grand total breakout is/was (several cards have been sold already to happy board/ebay members):

For anyone who's never seen it, here's a photocopy of one of 3 known T4 Weavers (mentioned by Leon, but not part of the find). It's about 4"x6", with no name on the card, only a pencilled number. The writing is ink, done later, and the photo part of the card (removed to show this) has been trimmed to JUST beyond the interior borders of the cardboard part (it's a folder, cut out, with the photo showing through).

Hey Leon,

I was the one who got the Colgans. I passed on the last part of the deal with the Zeenuts, Obaks, Big Eaters and T4's, as he wanted too much for my purposes. Would have been great to have the stuff but too many other deals with better margins. At least they ended up with someone who will appreciate them.

The Colgans were in nice shape with the majority being the Tin Tops. Now I am off to Florida to pick up an original collection of T and E cards--one of the largest accumulations that I have seen comprised of over 390 cards.

I was up in the Berkeley hills, stopping at yard sales at the time of the last baseball strike, and I always asked if the people had any cards for sale. At one place I stopped, the lady of the house said, "My son just sold all his baseball cards for one dollar. It was in protest to the baseball strike." I asked, but didn't have to (it was a very posh neighborhood--the kind of neighborhood where a yard sale could be really juicy!)-whether the cards were from all times and in good shape, and she said "Only the best." It had happened a minute before I got there...

Just because people say cards were nice doesnt mean they were,especially if youre not talking to the person who owned the cards.I recently was asked to look at a collection of cards from a friend of my fathers.These people are very rich,they have a winter only home in an upper middle class town thats worth close to half a million,so i think theyre doing good.

Anyway the lady told my father they were old cards and in great shape.They belonged to a relative who passed away.So i went to see the cards at her house and they were all baseball cards ranging from 81-90 topps,no more than 500 and they were thrown into a shoebox.There wasnt any cards worth more than $2 and most had 4 dinged corners,and some were creased.

She also didnt realize a Yogi Berra and a few other black and white cards were from the late 80's and when i showed her that a set of 44 in mint condition just sold on ebay for $6,she was to say,a little disappointed.

In the end,i straightened out the cards into nice neat piles,put them back in the box and told her to put them on a top shelf in a closet and forget about them for awhile
