I’m confident that my All-Time Padre team could give any team in the majors a run for their money. (OK, maybe not…but they might have a 50/50 shot against an All-Time Devil Ray team.) |

The oldest franchise. Yes, you can actually have Spalding pitching to Javey Lopez and Jim O'Rourke backing up Hank Aaron. Spalding left the team after 1875, so technically he didn't play with them after they joined the National League. |

Tejada seems like an obvious choice over Barry who played just 900 games and hit 250 with 350 rbi's with the A's. Him and Campaneris are much closer, Campy did have alot more service time with the A's,but Tejada had approx 70 more rbi's in 800 less games with the team so its hard to argue that choice |

There was a debate on the radio this weekend - who's the better catcher, Bench or Rodriguez? Bench hit HR's when they meant just a little bit more. |

Campaneris would be a great choice for A's shortstop as well - he definitely beats out Tejada in versatility and speed, but Tejada's last couple years with the A's put him over the top for me. You can't really go wrong with either. |

Adam, surely you stick Robinson at 2B (or Davey Lopes) and stick in Ron Cey or Beltre (I know, I know, but he did have the one greatest year an NL third baseman ever had) at third. |

I know my Phillies certainly aren't 2nd best. Actually if you included all the players who played for the Phils when they were washed up - then this Phils team could technically be 2nd best, but I think the spirit of the question should be listing players who played in their prime for the listed team. For example, Willie Mays really shouldn't be placed on an all time Mets team. So the Phillies aren't 2nd best - not yet anyway :) |

Really the Yankees aren’t that much stronger than these other teams (except maybe in terms of depth and the Outfield); the Pitching isn’t really that great although they have a few marginal HOFers I didn’t list like Combs, Pennock, Chesbro and Hoyt. |

The "Glory of Their Times" c.d. has a story about a NY Giants team that was basically the same as the pennant winners, but sunk to the bottom because their wives were fighting in the stands. |
