Default Some T206's I found in my collection plus a few questions.

I recently saw a thread about a Ewing card with a small "w" that I agree was probably something that got onto the printing plate that caused the flaw. I also looked at other threads about T206's with two names, misprints and scrap on so on.
I decided to look at my collection of T206's a little more closely under a magnifier. Here is what I found.
1 - McQuillan name at top and bottom.
2 - Merkle - Has what looks like ghost lettering. Above the "Y" in N.Y. looks like a reverse "N".
3 - Easterly - Are these printers marks to show centering?
4 - O'Hara - Same as Easterly
5 - Sullivan - Shows excess ink and what are the lines? Printers marks? Plate crack?
Thanks for any help.
Robert

The Merkle has a reverse image of the "Factory No. XXXX..."

Looks like Factory No. 30?

Looking at the rest of the card I think I can see the Piedmont lines starting on the right side above the NY on his sleeve and running up toward his collar. Also looks like part of the Piedmont lettering on his shoulder.

That Zach. You are right. The Merkle card is a Tolstoi Factory 30 2nd Dist. N.Y.
And thanks for the link to the thread about the plate scratches. Looks like I have some reading to do there.
Thanks again,
Robert

Fun group of cards showing a variety of things.

I agree, Merkle is definitely a wet sheet transfer.

Easterly and O'Hara are printer's alignment marks to help register the image.

Sullivan is a bit of a top-bottom miscut. The line parallel to the top border is a crop mark to show the printer where to cut the sheet. The other line that slashes down the card is a scratch in the plate - there is a thread keeping track of these cards, also pointed out by Zach (http://www.net54baseball.com/showthr...late+scratches). If Sullivan isn't on there you should add it.

Great info. Thanks Guys. That gif image Zach did is really nice. I can see a few other ares where the transfer is on the card because of it. I will add my Sullivan card to the list if it is not there.
Thanks again,
Robert

Default everyone.....

did a great job identifying the "errors"

tolstoi front w/s/t are more common, but not the reverse factory on front....$150.00 card or better

2 namer- $75.00

the tiny stray print marks on the fronts are on most T206(or a lot)...if you look very closely.....not any value really

the bigger "error" everyone missed is the half crop mark next to the plate scratch on the back of Sullivan....

that's a $100.00 card just on the half crop mark....a rarer error...

I really HATE putting a value on anything, but I feel safe with the smaller errors ...please feel free to critique

Not so sure about the crop mark being worth $100. It's an awesome card for sure. I sold a couple crop marks not too long ago and got a very small premium. Also there's a PSA 4 Sullivan Sweet Cap with a crop mark that has been sitting on ebay for a few months at $90. Doesn't seem like people are in a hurry to spend a premium for these cards. I think they're cool, but that doesn't make anyone else spend their money on them.
