Default Heinie Wagner T205 image match?

What do you think. Is this the same image?

It is very close, but I notice some differences:
The front of the hat brim is different and that extra band (in red) is added. Left ear is out a lot farther on the card. Head tilted in the photo.

Andrew,

I think you have a match. The portrait used for the card is an illustration, not a photo, so a few details may be off. I am very confident that your image was used for the card.

Find any more Conlon gems lately?

Curt

Default Great Photo

Great photo...Just love it. With all the concerns about safety and the modern player, nice to be reminded of the a time when players played with a large metal safety pin at their throats..

Very true. Several of the card illustrations are virtually identical to the images they are based off of but some are clearly based off of an image but have slight variations. This one stumped me, I think because his mouth is slightly off and so is his right ear.

It's a pretty huge safety pin, that's for sure.

I think you are a match. People look for exactness with these things but more often than not there are subtle and sometimes huge changes made from photos to card artwork.

Thanks for your input, Rhys. There were definitely artistic liberties taken with some of the T205 images. Eddie Grant even has his image completely flopped. There are others with more subtle variances like a collar was changed or the piping on their caps was added/removed.
