I really love your art. I have been wanting to try my hand at something like this since seeing yours. I know I just don't have the patience (nor the artistic talent) to do it justice. I just think it would be a fun use of a bunch of cards that will have no future value and I think my children would love doing this with me.

Another commission in the books! I also expect to have a Cracker Jack Cobb finished in the next couple of days.

Here is another that I think I forgot to post:

My apologies, guys.....figured the surfaces would keep the grades low anyway.

Thanks, John! Not sure about steadiest hands, as the process usually goes: cut, glue, assess, cuss, tear something off, cut, glue......

"Charles Conlon"; 40"x 30"; Cut early 90's Sporting News Conlon cards; SOLD.

How about a little love for the photographer himself? After using those Conlon cards for the Jackie Bond Bread piece, I knew I had to get this done.

Tim,

Have you reached out to players and shown them the art work you have done?

It's very impressive, and I would think they would believe the same.

Thank you! I've been fortunate enough to be put in situations where my work has been given to former players, commissioned by former players, and through my work with Upper Deck, has been signed by some of the big guys in the modern sports world (Gretzky, Lebron, Griffey). Here are a few of my encounters...

Omar and his commission:

Andre Dawson stopped at the UD booth during the Fall Expo in Toronto. We talked for a couple days, and then afterwards by phone and email. He commissioned this one:

Lanny McDonald signing a piece of himself:

Gretzky's signed piece:

Joe Torre with his gift from his friends in the MLB Commissioner's Office:

Coach Gary Gilmore with his piece long before winning the 2016 College World Series:

Miguel Cabrera (this was done for the Tiger Foundation/Miguel Cabrera Foundation):

Minor League Baseball's all-time HR king, Mike Hessman. This was commissioned by his family as a retirement gift:

This is a great idea with some cool results. Have you ever used a single card to make that same card? For example, using a pile of the "regular" Fleer Ripkens (none of the rare variations) to make a large version of the FF card?

If it wasn't so much work, I think it would be great to use junk era commons to make a giant junk era common. Love your work.

Thanks! I haven't used a single card to make that same card yet. I've been approached about it before (1988 Donruss Diamond Kings Andre Dawson), but I passed because it would be too tedious and time consuming to cut the small sections of red, etc. to replicate that on a larger level. I'd rather cut jerseys off of Cardinals and Reds players to make those red swatches (same for the other colors). Hope that makes sense!

I'm currently working on a commission of something similar! Without going into many details (it is a gift from a family member and I am unsure if the recipient is on this board).....I can tell you it is a common card from the 1987 Topps set. The goal is to complete it by only using 87 Topps.

I can't wait to see the 1987 Topps card. That was my favorite year for collecting and the set I have way too many cards of still. So you taking a large group off the market while making a giant 1987 Topps, makes me a happy soul.

THANK YOU for continuing to post your work... maybe someday, I'll be able to get one made for me... but in the meantime, keep going!

This set is also a favorite for me, as it was the first pack of cards I ever bought. I also love using the set in my work now due to the amount of portraits, grass, sky,red/blue/white jerseys......it has most of what I need for my art. The stock is also thin, making the scissor work easier on the wrists!

I'm almost finished with my 1987 Topps common commission, but I finally got around to finishing something I was working on "just because." Cut 2010-2013 A&G commons and cut 1982 Topps commons. 16.5" x 29"

Wish I was at the National this year, but since I'm not......might as well get some work done! I'll have the 1987 Topps common uploaded Saturday evening (it is being given as a gift that morning). Also just finished this one - my version of the 1948 Leaf Jackie Robinson:

I know you have a "regular" job, but I have to think the National would be a great investment for you.

I would definitely be at the National working live any other summer. I am leaving next week to move my daughter in to college (oldest child, first semester). Dad is having a tough time, lol.....so I'm spending as much time around the house and at the beach with her as possible.

Really Tim, 40 years from now, when you look back on life, are you going to wish you spent more time with your family, or with a bunch of guys who collect little pieces of cardboard? Priorities man.

Thank you, Ruben! Will do. Never had my kid(s) 650 miles from me for longer than a week. The fall should be very interesting around here!

Not a classic, but I had a ton of fun with this commission.....1987 Topps Mookie Wilson. For 99% of the piece, I used 1987 Topps commons.

Default Finished with another.....

Started rolling on this one, and just couldn't stop. I have a feeling I will complete many more renditions from the 1964 Topps Giants set before I am done. This Clemente measures 20" x 28", and is available:

Tim do you have any pieces for sale or is just about everything you do commission work now? I can't imagine you having any in inventory for long?

Is is okay to ask what the general cost of one of these pieces would be? Say a "somewhere between $50 and $50 million", but maybe narrowed down a bit more? ha ha

I went through this thread for the 3rd time today, page 1 to the end. I'm still amazed at what I see!

1953 Topps Jackie Robinson
1948 Leaf Jackie Robinson
1972 Topps Nolan Ryan
1964 Topps Giants Roberto Clemente (cropped)
