Default Topps Heritage

I'm going through some stuff I kinda forgot I had, and I scanned some of them. I've always got a soft spot for Topps Heritage, especially pre-2010.

Chromes
Relics
Autos

Anyone else collect this stuff? Either collected then or still have it?

I buy a couple boxes every year, pick up some singles. My favorite modern product by far, Topps does a very good job mimicking the style. I like that they tend to use photographs similar to what they chose in the originals, except they don’t do the capless head shots. The chromes are pretty fun.

I might stop soon though, Heritage is starting to hit the stretch where I don’t really care for the bland designs.

I have all the Heritage sets and update/high # sets from 2001 (1952) forward. Have all the variations through 2010 after which they multiplied into the hundreds. Thought I would stop this year with 1972 but might linger to 1975. Anyone see them ( Fanatics/ Topps) going beyond 1979 with Heritage. Although I have all the regular sets I never cared much for 76–79

That’s awesome. Chromes and relics included? Or base & master sets?

I used to collect most of the relics released by Topps Heritage (I never tried to get the numbered dual relics). I always thought these were the coolest. It was a 4-card subset of Mays, Williams, Ford and Newcombe. I sold the Ford & Newcombe a few years ago, but I never could bring myself to sell these.

I love the quote from Ted Kluszewski, "I'm not sure what charisma is, but I have a feeling it's Willie Mays"

I have tried to collect the 2019 Topps Heritage box topper Teammates set, a reproduction of a 1970s Topps limited edition set of their internal staff operations but have fallen 3 short 🥺

I've given up on it as a breaker. I just do not think there is enough value there to justify the cost. I bought some of the 2018 and 2019, and got a case of the 2020 (1971 was my favorite as a kid). It was not worth the price I paid, unless some of the RCs go off. I got a box of the 2021 as a gift and it was the single worst break I have ever had. The box topper was a 5 x 7 nobody, and the insert was one of those non-specific Clubhouse 'relic' cards. The parallels were scarce and nobodies. Even the base cards were a collection of duds. No Ohtani base card, one Trout card. If I'd paid for it, I'd have been really pissed.

Very true. It's my favorite set to break anyways; I love the variations and it's the set best for set building, which I have fun with. I am lucky that I get a few boxes each year from a distributor friend for less than market. I have a ton of fun opening it, but, it's absolutely brutal if you're breaking for anything but casual fun. Heritage is really, really tough to profit on since production started spiking in 2019. The odds you'll get even half the cost of the box back have got to be 20% or less. Auto's are like 2 per case, and usually junk even then.

For fun though, 2021 Heritage High Number Hobby boxes are selling for $50. 2020 High Number are like $55. You're still going to lose, but at $2 a pack, it's a really fun rip to just open up some vintage looking stuff.

I don't really collect these, but picked up this lot of 2003 Heritage Chrome because it contained Pujols.

David,
I love the 2003 chromes. At one point, I had the complete chrome set (#/1954) and almost all of the refractors (#/554). Good stuff!

I'm still working on the 2001 chrome set. If anyone has any for sale let me know. I'd prefer to buy a whole set somewhere, but those only come up for sale every few years.

They are not. The card with the "Topps Heritage" in the upper right corner and "Certified Autograph Issue" covering part of his jersey is from 2001 Topps Heritage.

The other is from 2002 Team Topps Legends.

do any of these hobby or other boxes for heritage ever offer 1-3 or some type of range of autos or special cards instead of saying 1 per box etc

I've never put together an entire Heritage set, but any time I get the itch to open packs, Heritage is on the short list of boxes I consider.

I recently purchased a box of 2021 Heritage High number. Not sure why, but all the sites are really discounting those recently (got mine for $50 when it's really hard to find ANY modern box under $100 these days). Probably because they printed too much of it to begin with. A couple decent rookies and still has the chance to pull chrome, autos, relics, etc.

Fun box to rip so far.

High Number usually collapses in price if there's no huge rookie hit. They then drift back upwards to original retail once the main distributors stock is gone. Heritage at $50 is a really fun rip, it doesn't hurt much to pull a common relic at that price. I think they're a blast once they crash. The first series usually gets down to $70ish or a bit lower before the distributors run out of supply.

2020 Heritage High Number is still available at $50-$60 too for hobby boxes.

A vendor at the last Dallas Card Show had 2022 Heritage Boxes at $70. Because of all the times we set up next to each other before he moved to the main room he was nice enough to knock $5 off the price. I was very happy with this year's box at that price. Even at $70 I would have been happy

Absolutely love the Topps Heritage lineage! Didn't collect it when the sets first came out, but one that I've added a bunch of to my collection over the past few years.

Awesome autos!

I have the 2013 Bryce card as well. One of only two Heritage cards I have graded:

It's a good way to buy modern rookies if you like the underlying design.
