My only and best Ruth. Sadly, my photography skills do not do it justice.

The Ruth I want is the 1921 exhibit. And it'll have to be in low grade like Exhibitman's example. I have the 1921 Cobb and Speaker already. I'd probably have to trade for the Ruth, centered around my Cobb red. Wouldn't that be a beautiful display? And if I got the horizontal pitching 1921 WaJo....wow!

The only Ruth I own, and thus my favorite, is the 34 Butterfinger.

My favorite is the Goudey #144. The first prewar card I ever bought, and the first ever non ebay auction pickup I ever made. I remember seeing a picture of one as a kid, and to this day I still believe it's one of the best looking cards in the hobby.

Pictured with my other Ruths and Goudey Gehrigs, all together today for the first time.

Jesse those are incredible. I particularly love the e210 and e121. Great collection as
usual!

Thanks Josh, those two certainly are more rare. The e121 is worth quite a bit more, and I really have no idea what the e210 is worth today, they don't come up often. But that 144 pose has just always been a personal favorite of mine. It would be the last one I'd ever sell, and I probably never will.

Forgot all about this one:

Not a 1948 HOF. It is actually one of the glossy 'slicks' that were used to make the machine headers for ESCO machine displays.

The slicks are rare.

Default Babe Magnet Ruth

This thread is epic.

From the 1932 movie short "Fancy Curves". It's all of 8-1/2 minutes and worth a look for the babes and cornball.

Babe Ruth and his sister (snipe on the back gives her name, date etc; if I can find the photo I will update)

While the '33 Goudey Ruths are definitely iconic (and rightfully so), you don't see too many of this card. Kind of a fun, quirky pose and from such a recognizable - albeit scarce - set.

Seeing them all together like that is really interesting, Josh. I still like the 1933 G #181 best. Speaking of which, heckuvacard, Sean.

Wish the very rough copy my father gave me was signed as well, Ted.
I looked for this book a few years ago trying to find comps and I was surprised how cheap it was.

Wow Josh! That is a really impressive Ruth collection. I love the caramels and Goudeys!

I'm also in the camp of the 1933 Goudey #181 (green Ruth) being the best, but I would be thrilled to add any of those to my collection. Great stuff.

Thanks for the kind words. I minimized my collection the past year and have focused on Ruth only, a challenging but fun project and I never get the same feeling from cards of another player as I do “The Babe”

I know what you mean. My VERY humble Ruth collection (consisting of the rough condition w517 and 1935 Goudey that I posted at the very beginning of this thread) are probably the two cards in my collection that I take out and look at most often. There's just something special about a playing days Ruth card.

So true. Whenever I think about next moves, Ruth is always in the mix.

I haven't seen too many "1"s of 4 in 1s.....

I picked this up on the BST 5 yrs ago (I was about to say a few years ago until I checked). Damn, I am getting old....
Anyway, it was in my first collection and boomeranged back to me....I paid 200 for it the first time and 275 the second time. Those were the days. If we had only known...
I like miscuts and other anomalies...
