Not as exciting as 5 Novelty Cutleries, but here's something you don't see everyday. Lloyd Waner as a Phillie.

Paul, for a guy who sleeps all day you certainly seem to be able to find all the high-end PCs. Really remarkable.

Here's my latest Sunset Subset pickup.
A spitballer who didn't make the Majors until nearly his 29th birthday
Long Bob Ewing...enshrined into the Cincinnati Reds HOF in 2001.
He also served two terms as the Auglaize County (Ohio) sheriff!

-perhaps the best sunset in the T206 set!

Just picked these up. Very exciting! I usually get blown out of the water on t206's and I think the ewing card is one of the most attractive in the set. Does sgc grade oddities like this?

Doolan completes my basic E97 set. Now I have to start upgrading over time and picking up the Sullivan (gulp), Young and Nicholls variations.

It's been a few years since I have been able to add to my HRK catcher subset. I have wanted this card for several yours after Max W. showed me his Brooks Home Run Kisses card. Thanks to the power of the internet, a West Coast collector, who "stumbled" upon my website, and I were able to work out a trade.

I present Mr. Brooks:

Nice pickup on the Yale Mixture tobacco cabinets as well Keith. I wasn't sure what to bid, but I was sure you would know how high to go.

Thanks to a board member and the BST, these cards arrived last week while I was in Canada. A nice surpise when I came home as I had forgotten them in the excitement of an annual fishing trip.

The three cards also put me at the 100 card mark toward my set. I had hoped to reach the milestone months ago but was distracted by some of my other hobbies. While I obviously have quite a way to go toward completion, it does give me a certain amount of satisfaction to reach 100. I am hoping to add a Cy Young portrait later this week for 101.

Wow. Lots of fantastic stuff here.

I'm intrigued by the T206 "sunset subset" mentioned earlier. What a great idea. How many does that include?

One of the first things struck me about the T206 cards were the outstanding sunsets in many of the images. There are other issues with such notable features as well, but I casually collect the "T206 Sunsets." It is a self-made checklist, and perhaps you could add more if find others you like.
But here is the 50-card T206 Sunset Subset. It includes 9 HOFers, I believe.

Alperman
Bresnahan batting
Burch batting
Bily Campbell
Carey
Cobb bat on
Cravath
Davis-Chicago
Dineen
Duffy
Evers Chicago shirt
Ewing
Fiene-throwing
Flick
Geyer
Gandil
Hart (Montgomery)
Hinchman (Cleve)
Del Howard
Hunter
Jennings-one hand
Jones-Chicago hands hips
Joss pitching
Killian pitching
Konetchy
Kroh
Lajoie bat
Lajoie-throwing
Lindemann
Maloney
Overall-hands at face
Pelty
Pfeffer
Phillippe
Reulbach-glove
Schaefer (detroit)
Schmidt-throwing
Schulte front
Scott
Shannon
Sheckard-glove
Frank Smith-Chicago
Frank Smith (Chi & Boston)
Stark
Thebo
Ira Thomas
Tinker knees
Wheat
Foley White
Owen Wilson

Now, I also have a couple other Subsets that I will occasionally collect:

T206 Sweaters. A very collectable 28 card Subset with only a few HOFers!
Ames (hands at chest)
Bridwell (port w/cap)
Carrigan
Charles
Crandell (port w/cap)
Devore
Doolan batting
Doyle portrait
Dunn (Brooklyn)
Ellam
Gandil
Hannifan
Herzog (Boston)
Kleinow with bat
Knabe
Lajoie-throwing
Liefeld pitching
McGraw port w/cap
Murray portrait
Oberlin
O'Neil
Schirm
Schlei portrait
Seymour portrait
Sheckard no glove
Starr
Owen Wilson
Wiltse port w/cap

And then there is my T206 Building/Stadium Subset, which includes cards of players with buildings or stadiums in the background. So far I have checklisted a rather attainable 29 cards, with 4 HOFers.
Anderson
George Bell-pitching follow
Burch batting
Camnitz-armat side
Billy Campbell
Carey
Chase trophy
Cobb bat off
Cree
Doolan fielding
Evers-Cubs shirt
Ford
Frill
Geyer
Graham (StL)
Griffith batting
Del Howard
Hunter
Joss pitching
Kroh
Lake
Maloney
Manning bat
Merkle-throw
Moriarty
Overall -face level
Phillippe
Putnam
Sheckard-glove

Best part is, many commons, the best images that the set has to offer, and several overlaps!!
Oddly enough, however, is that I don't think there is one card that is in all three - that is to say, I don't think that The Monster has even one card that has a guy wearing a sweater in front of a building under the setting sun!

In the interests of good sportsmanship, find him and prove me wrong!!!

Just got this Tinker in the mail today, now I just need the Chance to complete the infield...

...the something extra is it was in the Skydash collection. Now I can tell my grandson the story of how a prewar collection was rescued from the dump. That was a lot of fun watching that drama develop on Net54. Someday we should have a thread where everyone posts the cards that came from that collection. I wonder what percentage of Skydash's cards will eventually end up being owned by boardmembers?

Best wishes,

Joe

I always add my cards to the end of these threads, right before someone starts a new thread. Let's see if the trend continues.

Dare I say - I like the '15 Matty better than the '14 Matty.
