Default The Collector Connection Pre WWII Auction Closes Tonight Sun Nov 27th!

www.thecollectorconnection.com

Over 900 lots, our biggest pre-war auction ever. As usual a nice selection of cards including graded near sets of 1933 Goudey (90% PSA 5) and 1941 Play Ball (90% PSA 6) A little lighter on T205 and T206 than normal, but still some Cobb, Young, Lajoie, etc...

Some really cool issues like a selection of Collins McCarthy, several highest graded including HOF'er Ray Schalk in PSA 6.

Toss in a few Famous and Barrs and a Morehouse Baking and there's some great tough issues.

To me, as a baseball history nut the real crowning glory of this auction is the selection of Newspapers from 1857 - 1859. Accounts of the Great Match, box scores featuring baseball's original superstar Jim Creighton and more. These are some of the earliest box scores ever published.

The best of the best is an 1858 Porter's Spirit of the Times in quite nice condition with an account and box score on the cover of the "Great Match" This was an all-star game between the best players from New York teams and the best players from Brooklyn (which was still a separate city) teams. This box score and account is from the rubber match of the three game series. These three games were the first games admission was ever charged for and are credited with stoking the fires for a professional league. Of course the civil war got in the way.

We dug through these looking for other cool historical content, but who knows what we missed. This is really museum or research library type stuff, and if you have a friend who's a baseball history buff, please let them know as I can't imagine an opportunity like this comes around all that often.

Throw in autographs from Honus Wagner, Clark Griffith, Rube Walker and the 1931 Cubs w/ Hack Wilson and more! Publications, blankets, pins, discs, grade, raw and all before 1941. The only dedicate Pre WWII auction in the hobby. Already looking for consignments for the Spring Pre War!

Great auction Scott!

I managed to pick up a pile of the rare Collins-McCarthy cards, including the PSA 6 Schalk! Pretty excited to get those cards and add them to my PC.

Thank you!

I am actively buying and selling vintage sports cards graded and raw. Feedback as a buyer: https://www.net54baseball.com/showthread.php?t=297262

I am accepting select private consignments of quality vintage cards (raw or graded) and collecting "want" lists for higher end ($1K+) vintage cards.

Picked up about 19 different 33 Goudeys, mostly commons. Thought prices on the Goudeys were strong.

Scott - glad I saw this. Logged in and realized I had two auctions to pay. Damn email glitch got me again. Sent payments for both auctions. Sorry for delay.

I picked up some of the Reemsta Olympics cards and the Churchman’s King of Speed set. The track geek in me strikes

Thanks all, wasn't quite the record breaker for us that we thought it might be, but it was a successful auction that had a lot of cool stuff. Going to be hard to top it but with our strong results we're already beginning to gear up for the Spring Pre War auction. Never any rest!

It was a fun auction, was able to grab the SGC 1 Johnny Evers w/ bat polar bear back and a raw 41 Hank Greenberg so I'm happy with the outcome even tho I got beat on a couple things I wanted.
