Default Network54 National Dinner 2006

Posted By: leon the coordinator

Will be on Friday night at the Hilton, across from the Convention center. It will be a fajita buffet ($14) and open cash bar ...and there will be some as yet undecided munchies (small cost)...probably chips and dip. There will be NO music, NO dancing girls (or dancing guys, if any women are joining), NO entertainment, except for us . We won't be below a religous convention either. As everyone knows there is no smoking in CA indoors anywhere but there is a private patio for our group to go, if you must. The room itself is $400 (split between all attendees) and the bartender is $150 for all night...split between folks that want to drink, I guess...or if nothing else then I guess the coordinator pays . We will have the place to ourselves from 5pm until we get finished (at least till 12am if need be). I will probably ask that dinner be served about 7:00 to 7:30 and my guess is folks will get there an hour or so earlier....I will get RSVP's as we get closer.....Mark your calendars...it should be a hoot....

Sad to say that I can't make the long trip this year due to it being in CA. I suggest that any newbie to the forum that may be able to make this trip should. My first trip to the nationals and the dinner was last year and I was able to make some great cardboard friends in a matter of only a couple hours. The people hear - for the most part - are the best in the bunch It is worth the trip! Have fun for me everyone. Hopefully I will see you all the next time the show comes to the East Coast.

I'm also shut out by the long travel distance. Did anyone ever post the schedule for upcoming years? Someone asked in a thread a few days ago, but I don't know if there was a response anywhere.

I thought that, at each National, the first order of business is to vote on where to hold the next one. Or am I hopelessly out of date?

Wish I could make it. I planned on it since I always miss, but once again I have a wedding to attend. Blah.

Drink one for me.

that's a weak excuse! weddings don't take 5 days. anaheim nationals are probably your best shot instead of midwest or east coast.

Quan,
It's a go-away-book-a-room-for-three-days-type wedding out of town for me.

I will attend a national though. I'm from Chicago and my family still lives there so I have an excuse to go right there.

2006 Anaheim
2007 Cleveland

after that it is Chicago and Anaheim again, although I"m not positive of the order.

Are there not any collectors in Boston or New York willing to get things together for a National show? Cleveland, Anaheim, Chicago, Cleveland, Anaheim, Chicago. C'mon, this is ridiculous. Dallas? Kansas City? St. Louis? I went to the National in Dallas (Arlington)and thought it was fabulous. The National in St. Louis in '95 (hard to believe it has been 11 years) was also great. Are we trapped now in a warp of Cleveland, Anaheim, and Chicago?
