He seems to have no card-related feedback; and also he claims to have paid 5250 six years ago which seems somewhat dubious to me.

true I would stay away...people only quote what they paid when they want the exact amount back....not to take 200 less..

I thinks he's just one of those non-collectors who bought a major baseball card on a whim as an investment or something's and now he's just trying to dump it. Hence why he sounds like a hobby moron in his description and why he has no card related feedback.

I should've pulled the trigger on the buy now option. Came late to the party.

Doesn't often surface this nice.

5250 six years ago was a steep price I think.

Funny thing too about the Commerce Comet rookie is that the higher grades are rarely even centered this nice; and when they are centered better they are not that much better either. Ergo I also look to a middle grade version in order not to pay a ginormous sum strictly for just edges and corners.

From looking at the bids I am not certain but I think a heavy hitter or two have already bid on this card. Wonder if those are placeholder bids and fireworks to come late in auction? Anyhoo may the best man win!

Why would anyone put a "placeholder" bid on an ebay auction??

What was the BIN btw?

When I lay down a placeholder bid, I know I want to go after the item, but still need to get on vcp, consult an opinion or two, really do my homework in choosing my bid amount and strategy. So I put an early bid in when there's no chance the bids will win, knowing I will later circle back around. Often my watching list is too crowded and my bidding section will only have my top priority cards. Sorry my two best hobby friends and I just wound up using this term and I let my shorthand slip out. Should have explained better.

I get it, I just see no point on an ebay auction doing anything other than a snipe.

Damn, if he actually has the card and it's real that was a great price. Seems suspicious though.
