Default 19th Century Figure Eight Primitive Base Ball

Selling an 1860-1870 Homemade Figure Eight Base Ball in beautiful condition, with a beautiful patina. A tightly single stitched specimen weighing in at an accurate for era 2.5 ounces. The ball measures smaller than an MLB ball and has a slight squish to it when squeezed. I Have it listed on the bay for $799, a retail price of course, make me an offer. I used this ball for my book. email directly info@historyofthebaseball.com

Hi Brandon. What would have been used inside this ball as a core and wind?

Hey Dan - This particular ball has a tightly wound fine string, similar if not the same as with what is was stitched with wrapped around some other type of soft material. We actually took an x-ray of this ball, nothing solid inside, just soft material, possibly a wad of leather in the middle to start it off.
