Default Awesome Secret Santa package

My Secret Santa sent a great package of several dead ball era goodies including a couple of autographs, a newspaper box score from a Tigers vs. Yankees game with Cobb (2 HR's that game), Ruth, and Gehrig all playing, a team photo clipping of the 1916 Boston Red Sox with Ruth front and center, and a Zeenut card of Cutshaw which is only the second ever Zeenut I've owned. When I get my man cave room back, these will all go on display on one of my shelves for me to enjoy and share year round.

This made my Christmas day for sure! Thanks Santa! And special thanks to Rich Klein for coordinating this event!

Santa added a couple of really nice cards to my fledgling 1958 Topps set, and arranged to have Terry Cashman's "Talking Baseball" playing while I unwrapped Willie, Mickey, and the Duke. Very clever, and greatly appreciated. Thanks, Santa!

Happy holidays to all!

Default Came home

From visiting the wife's relatives and it made me feel so good to see all the wonderful gifts given and received. And next year, with a couple of the lessons I learned this year, will be even better for all concerned.

I was very fortunate to receive this HOF trio of M116 Evers, National Game of Chance, a S & S Traynor, and even was able to pull a substantial M116 Merkle too, which got me all red in the face, just like Fred (this example of Merkle really does make Fred's face an exaggerated red color...a nice color variation). I must have been very good this year! Thanks for the raw bounty, Secret Santa, these are perfect for my collection.

My Secret Santa nailed it with his package this year. I don't have pics yet, but can list what was included. Santa checked my lists and found 13 cards for me that he packed in four separate themed envelopes.

1st up was a boxing envelope that had 2 cards in it. One Max Schmeling card and a Black Cat Cigarettes card of a pair of boxer showing a block of a left hook to the head.

2nd was a basketball theme that had 4 cards in it including two Abdul-Jabbar cards. One was from the 1976-77 set that I'm working on. Santa included a second card from this set as well. Also a Harlem Globetrotters card.

3rd was a Presidential themed envelope that contained 6 cards. This one had a George Washington card I had not seen before, a Dockman Caramel of Teddy Roosevelt, an upgrade to my W563 Woodrow Wilson, a Topps US Presidents Calvin Coolidge, a Miner's Extra Heroes of History U.S. Grant and a great postcard displaying the (at the time) 25 Presidents of the US from Washington to Teddy Roosevelt. Wow, great choices!

Lastly was an envelope marked "Mickey". One card in this envelope. But what a card, a 1933 Goudey #76, Mickey Cochrane HOFer!

What a haul! Thank you so much Santa!!!

Default A possible Bummer Note

I have one person who has not received his gifts and when I checked there was no tracking information from his giftee. On the premises that all people can sometimes forget (as we saw with people not hitting send) that hopefully that's all it is but if not I (we) will do our best to make it up to the person who never received anything

I have sent a DM to the sendee as well.

Regards
Rich

There were two other people who have not yet received their goodies but the difference is their senders have been in communication and have provided tracking numbers and stuff is stuck in shipping. Sadly, that is getting to be more of an occurrence with our USPS.

I felt when I saw the DM's from the other people like Gil Hodges famously did when he was the manager for the Washington Senators. He had a team meeting to shake things up and said I know of four players who broke curfew last night and he had a jar where those players put in $100 to cover their fines. The next day there was $700 in that jar. For those people who are patiently waiting hopefully the post office will get things moving.

And if we can do something for the one who was left like Tiny Tim on Xmas day let's see what we can do

And the person who is not responding did receive his Secret Santa gifts and has not posted on our boards about his receipt, I sent Leon an email for his knowledge with the understanding that it's a bit disappointing one of our group has not received anything nor has the person been in contact.

Note: While my gift has not showed up as of this AM, the sendee has gone above and beyond to keep me informed and I'm fine with his efforts.

Regards
Rich

Rich, I do hope that the issue with someone not sending a gift does not sour you on doing this next year. I am blown away by the gifts that have been posted in this thread.

With a grateful appreciation to Leon for also helping, we have received a Fed Ex tracking # on the person who has not received anything yet.

Thank you everyone who responded in our group and hopefully the final gift will arrive ASAP other than the couple which are stuck courtesy of our USPS sytem.

My gift was waiting for me in my mailbox when I arrived home tonight. My Secret Santa was cute and put five 1966 Topps HOFers into a pack so it was like opening a pack but no commons. Well done!

In the continuation of lessons learned for next year I just received the address of somehow who had not received any goodies. I should have followed up more but when he realized it I did alert his giftee to send him some goodies.

My fault for not doing more follow up

In the category of "good things come to those who wait" as well as "patience is a virtue", my Secret Santa package finally arrived yesterday.

This is not all that strange seeing that I live in The Netherlands and the US Postal powered Santa Sleigh had some challenges this year.

I would like to thank my Secret Santa for sending a great 1922 V61 Neilsons Chocolate Carson Bigbee as well as a beautiful R327 Diamond Stars Pie Traynor. Both of these welcomed additions to my Pittsburgh themed collection!!

Also thanks again to Rich for arranging this!!

Gr, Mike
