Default Victor (Young) Perez

Wondering if anyone knows if Victor (Young) Perez ever appeared on a card?
Born in Tunisia in 1911, at 19 Perez became the youngest world champion in history to that point when he beat Frankie Genaro for the flyweight title in 1931. A French citizen and Jewish, he was arrested in Paris in 1943 and deported to Auschwitz, where he was forced to participate in bouts for the amusement of the SS guards. He died on the forced march away from the camp after it was abandoned by the Nazis in January 1945.
Any help tracking down a card would be appreciated. Thanks!

Murray

That's the first card that sprang to mind for me to. Don't know if there's another issue featuring Perez or not.

Fascinating story and under-rated boxer.

There's a complete set of this series up on Ebay UK right now for a very reasonable price. Just do a search of "Nestle Boxing" and it should pop up.

There's not a lot out there but there are a few European cards. Here is a RPPC of him, signed on back:

Another Eurocard, Indiana Sport:

Victor "Young" Perez was a flyweight champ of Tunisian descent who lived in France. Come WWII, as a Jew he was betrayed to the Nazis and sent to the Auschwitz death camp in Poland where he was forced to fight gladiatorial contests for the amusement of the guards. If he won, he was fed. If he lost, he would be executed. He never lost. He was finally murdered during a death march near the end of the war when he shared some bread with a fellow prisoner in defiance of a guard's orders.

c1930's Anonymous French Chocolate card

c1935 Byrrh (autographed on front)

Perez shares a similar story with Kid Francis (another fighter killed by the Nazis). Francis appears on a few cards as well.

A 1925 French studio portrait of Francis. The portrait was in the archive of Le Petit Parisien, a newspaper run by the Dupuy family. After WWII Pierre Dupuy, the publisher, was accused of collaborating with the Nazis and while he was acquitted, the paper was destroyed as a result.
