Come on Jon.

Vintage slabheads never talk about vintage cards.

My two favorites are the Crossovers to PSA threads.

Default Sorry folks

When I used the tag CROSSOVERS in the search engine, it worked before.
It gave me all the exciting threads about vintage slab Crossovers.

God giveth ... God taketh.

Maybe Leon can make a call.

Oh, this is still a topic of discussion? I thought this particular dead horse had been beaten beyond recognition.

It's interesting, but for all the threads on 54 where raw card collectors complain about graded card collectors, I cannot recall a single thread where graded card collectors complain about raw card collectors.

For those of you who are upset that there are threads on 54 that discuss graded cards, please allow me to direct you to the following:

1) The thread about Exhibit reprints
2) The thread about cards featuring women
3) Ted's thread about the Cooperstown card show
4) Bob's thread about the new discovery of the Shotwell Ruth card
5) Anthony's thread about card idiosyncracies
6) Andrew's thread requesting info on Tobin lithos
7) Dave Haas' thread about which Net54 members will have tables at the National
8) Jason Carota's thread about his Henry Johnson Confectioners' Everett Scott
9) Richard Simon's thread about 1936 Detroit Tigers stamps
10) David's thread about a raw T206 Lajoie that was recently on eBay
11) Ted's thread about Erik's Philadelphia Caramel book

All 11 of those threads have nothing to do with graded cards, they're all on the front page of this message board, and they all have 10 or fewer posts in them. They're just begging for your knowledgeable contributions.

I guess it's more interesting to complain about posting about graded cards than it is to actually post something about cards, but I figured I'd point out those threads anyway. You know, just in case they're tough to see there, on the main page of this forum.

Ahhh the crossovers. It's a game alot of folks like to play. And it is a game for flippers/investors etc.

What I am most concerned about is how many times Rob D is going to change his Avatar? You got Wakie up there now (good choice) and at one point recently, there was some sort of stretch dog thing going on.

Michael,

I'm a newbie/flipper of avatars. The current one actually is at the grader's right now being slabbed. When I get it back, I'll flip it, pick another one from my inventory and use that one for a while.

Some people collect avatars; I invest in them.

Al, you missed it again.
No one is complaining about the graded card collectors.
If you're capable of going to the search engine ... Check out the word CROSSOVERS.
Once you do that, you will find three, or four pages on the Crossover slab subject.
The Croosover market subject, is a gift from the newbie grade collectors, which gave us the AUTHENTICATING??? Grader folks.

Maybe the reason why you don't see graded card collectors complain about raw card collectors is that raw collectors know how to grade their own cards, and don't need your so called Authenticators.

Just in case it might have gone over your head ... this forum was originally supposed to be about Vintage cards.

Al, I expected more from you, and you short changed yourself.

Hello Matt & Leon,
Funny thing is, I've been to Coventry.
Between American, and United Airlines, I spent over 21 years with the airlines.
Been to England, Amsterdam. Brussels, France, Spain, Nice, Cannes, Australia, Mexico, most of the Caribbean Islands, and even Dallas and Cleveland.

You're absolutely correct, Joe. Which is why I expected more from YOU.

One of the cool things about the new Net54 forum is that it's very easy to search the posts of any specific member of this forum. Just the click of a button, really.

So, without further ado, allow me to summarize the content of your last 25 posts on this board.

1) A response mentioning the healthcare and unemployment problem.
2) A post about Coventry, and your time with the airlines.
3) A stab at me, and something to do with crossovers and searching or something.
4) A stab at someone else, about Little League.
5) A stab at Matt about Cleveland, and touching a "slab nerve."
6) Another stab at Rob, about Little League.
7) An explanation about why this thread initially made no sense when you started it.
8) A post about how vintage slabheads never talk about vintage cards.
9) The beginning post of this nonsensical thread.
10) A post in another thread, referring readers to this one.
11) A post mentioning you're interested in filling open slots in the T210 series (GASP - a card-related post!)
12) A stab at the crook with the Old Mill overprints.
13) A wisecrack about getting a Drum pouch with an Old Mill overprint.
14) A friendly post toward Ted.
15) A post about how you refrained from bidding on a card because the seller insisted on Paypal.
16) Another post about the same topic as #15
17) An insult toward a person flipping cards.
18) A post that I think has something to do with politics or something.
19) A post that seems like an insult directed at somebody, but I can't quite figure it out.
20) A friendly post towards Iggy.
21) A post that seems to be a tongue-in-cheek reference to SGC.
22) A post referring SGC's slabbing of the altered Doyle eight years ago.
23) A post asking if grading companies slab soak jobs
24) Another post asking the same thing
25) A post containing nothing more than an asterisk, ostensibly because you edited your post.

So please, Joe, I ask you in the name of all things card-related: please. PLEASE. Try and refrain from posting about grading and restrict your posts to topics that are related to vintage cards.

Thanks in advance,
-Al

My point, and I apologize to Joe if I was too insulting in the way I tried to make it, was that I'm really tired of hearing people insulting grading, the grading industry, and in this case "crossovers" as if people who have opted to go that route are second-class citizens.

I collect graded cards. I like to think that doesn't make me a second-class citizen as I immerse myself in the sets I collect as much as any raw collector I know (except some of those T206 guys like Ted). Meanwhile Joe, who unquestionably has a wealth of card-related knowledge, is spending an awful lot of time criticizing the nature of other people's posts while he himself is, over his last few dozen posts, averaging about 5% card-related subject matter.

As a parallel, I don't collect PCL stuff. When there's a topic on 54 about Zeenuts or Pacific Coast Biscuits, I just don't read it. I don't find a need to start a thread complaining about it. It's all related to the same hobby.

Default Before I start .....

Before I start, I want to make sure that T's Please, and anyone else is back in front of their PC with their favorite bowl of popcorn.

Al, as for your post #24, I hope that you're not one of our community lawyers.
That was a lame, and piss poor attempt at a summation for your case.
Looks like you were struggling for some kind of justification.

I believe in giving credit where credit is due.
Rob D, and I for some reason, or another, have been having some kind of a fun mental fencing duel.
As Rob pointed out, and I have to give credit to his fair mindedness, you selected a come back, a parry from our fencing match.
Not only that, but most of your other selections were from other comebacks.
I know you're from somewhere in Jersey, but in NYC, that's unacceptable.
Come on Al, you can do better than that.

Next case.

Joe, I didn't "select" anything. I listed out the last 25 posts you have made on this board. They are what they are.

Exactly one of them was about vintage cards, and all that one did was mention that you were looking for T210s.

If you recall, I'm not the one who started this thread to complain about the content of other people's posts. It was you who did that.

My point is simple: if you're going to criticize posts about graded cards, then please add some value. Post about cards and quit whining about what everyone else posts. I don't need to be a NYC lawyer to be able to make a case - I don't even need to make a case. You make it for me.

Default One positive

thing about this thread is you can separate those that can contribute to the hobby and those that want to slam other people because of their own insecurities. Those that can have a dialog without slamming a person for what state they reside in. For the love of god, get over yourself. In the future, start a thread with a title: Inferior People and have a blast, that way we all know that it has absolutely nothing to do with the hobby and I can look at threads that actually pertain to something positive. You start this thread with a title "Allow me to share, and contribute. ", but the only thing you have contributed is your own personal stabs at people and your political preference.

I knew I should have had my coffee first.

Default I prefer graded

I myself prefer graded cards. I buy 90% graded cards. Its not foolproof but it does generally keep me away from New York street types who attempt to use ballyhoo to swindle me out of my shekels.

I see this site at it's best when someone is working research and it gets posted here as I am doing on the T-210's and a update on that,I am not rushing it because I want it to be as good as possible,I want the T-210 collector to use it and enjoy it all.Now as far as posts about slabheads, flippers if you don't want to read it,hey it is just like watching television turn the channel and don't read these threads.Oh and one more thing:These pretzel's are making me thirsty,LOL :-)

"Just saw a T-209 Crockett Type II so let's see that puts it at three I have seen"

I would like to know where you have seen 3 Crockett type 2s. This card is on most if not all advanced type 2 collectors want list. Can I see a scan? Sounds like one of these is real recent-I am very interested to see it myself and I am sure others are just as interested.

"Just saw a T-209 Crockett Type II so let's see that puts it at three I have seen"

Ok can you discribe the Crocket to me-is it an action pose? or a portrait? Can you see a bat or glove in the picture. I would really like to know what the card looks like.
