One or maybe two tiers south of the Hall, but a solid career and a few spectacular seasons. I saw him when he first came up against the Senators, he threw some serious heat.

Such an exciting pitcher on an exciting team, and he had a great name.
His 71 Topps card is a classic.

I volunteer for a local 501c3 and about 10 years ago we had both Fergie Jenkins & Vida as guests for our annual golf tournament.

Of course I volunteered to pick them up/drop them off at the airport, etc., and on the ride back Fergie playfully mentioned to me "do you realize you have both 1971 Cy Young winners in your car?"

Fortunately I had an OMLB in my car left over from the tournament & asked them both to sign (which they graciously did):
