Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons
One of the great American bands of all time …. Criminally underappreciated.
Dawn (Go Away) is a masterpiece of musical craftsmanship. |

When we took our first World Cruise in 2009 he and the 4 Seasons ( all young studs) performed on the ship the night before leaving port out of LA. He was great. Saw him in San Antonio a few years later with 4 new Seasons. The crowd, mostly aged, went wild. Still touring at 90

I would rate several songs above Dawn. Walk Like a Man, Rag Doll, and the unsurpassable Sherry. Maybe his falsetto was so extreme that it undermined the seriousness with which they were taken, I dunno. But great music IMO.

On the ship he invited people to join him on the stage for Oh What A Night. It was fantastic

I saw Jersey Boys in Vegas when it first opened there - absolutely fantastic - subsequently they made a movie, etc. etc. etc.
It's getting ready to play again in La Jolla - where it started - I might even go again! |

A great group!
Other favorites of mine that have not been mentioned are Opus 17, Bye Bye Baby and Big Man in Town. Saw them in person around 1981 here in New Jersey. A fantastic show! Mike Remember this? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gjK0bL3FfXo |

I grew up in Nutley, NJ and in the 60s we lived just a few blocks from Frankie Valli's home. My friends and I walked past it on the days we walked to school and we always hoped to see him out in the yard. LOL Never happened.
Needless to say, The Four Seasons were a big favorite and I still listen to them today. Got to see Jersey Boys on Broadway and it was indeed a great show. FV is still out there touring at 90. Impressive.

Lots of great songs for those who know them and the best thing is we can all have different favorites and they will all (mostly) be really good songs
